While I rarely enter the discussion, it seems most of the comments are from folks who have not trapped.
I don’t know the guy at all, but if you spend enough time hunting, trapping and fishing, surely there is a time or two when things don’t go as planned.
Not defending him or the video. But man, when is killing not killing?

My dad, now well into his 80s will still bring up some of his first memories, which were trapping with his dad. He still talks about watching his dad beat the hell out of a coyote with a bat to kill it (no holes). Pretty sure it traumatized him for life.

I’ve been holding off on replying to this thread, as I don’t have anything constructive to add. If he legitimately only had a knife and was trying to dispatch a wounded animal, I’d be more likely to give him a pass on this video. Obviously it wasn’t handled very well, but I could give him the benefit of the doubt that he was trying to avoid being bitten and things got western. I just have a very hard time believing that there was no other options. Seems like a coyote got wounded, they walked out to finish it off, and then someone said “ Hey dude, I bet you aren’t man enough to kill it with your pocket knife!”

Exactly. The guy made countless gear videos on how to be best prepared, and couldn't use a 22 and resorted to a knife?

Yes and my brother knows him better than I do. For speculation what if some one that works or worked at KIFARU got mad about Aron making packs for BP and dropped the video to the anti’s. The video is from 8 years ago people need to grow up and find better stuff to complain about.

Haven't seen the video, don't know the guy or brand.

But ANYONE who is convicted of animal cruelty should be banned from owning pets, have all their fishing and hunting rights and guns removed, massive fines and if they're repeat offenders should be locked up.

Having said that, it seems opinions are split between it was a rodeo, he was just cleaning up the mess and he was abusing the animal.
Without context which is apparently lacking, it would be hard to convict and unless he's a repeat offender he should probably be given the benefit of the doubt and a lesson on protecting his own and brand image.

Some things should never be posted or even filmed, but its the world we live in where douche-fluencers are even a thing.

The original actions, the taking holding and postings the video, using the video to further an agenda( both sides), the lack of context, the handling of the termination and the list can go on forever. We all can do better. None of us are exempt. Right wrong or indifferent the best thing that we can take away from something like it that self introspection is always appropriate and probably the most beneficial.
