Aron Snyder fired from Born Primative

not a fan of Snyder but I was curious about the chatter and watched the video. I have no problem with it. Looks to me like he was trying to dispatch an animal with a knife, without being bitten. Jabbed it in the vitals. What exactly is the proper way to dispatch a coyote with a knife???? I see this less torturous/unethical than shooting at a coyote from 500 plus yards and wounding it, which seems to be common practice amongst many.

does BP have affiliations with anti hunting groups? Was BP upset about something relating to this new pack? I find it Super strange they cut ties so quickly.

Bummer, I have followed Snyder for a long time. Since the first Gritty Bowmen podcast over a decade ago. I've always enjoyed his story telling and gear reviews.
I was looking forward to the born primitive packs.

Peta thrives off videos like this one. They have soldiers on standby with email, phone, postal service , social media, news networks campaigns on stand by for drops like this. They have figured out how to apply the pressure for the most bang for their buck and all the purple hairs hug each other after making their moves.

Shit kickers on the back forty do this all the time. But at least most aren’t dumb enough to video it or let someone else video it.
Pretty disgraceful. Absolutely no reason to torment the animal and put on a show for the camera. True colors came through there.

Not a great look by Aron, but there's far worse out there. Whoever released it or posted it after holding on to it for so long has got some issues and gave the antis a nice present wrapped in a pretty bow.

Exactly

I'm not going to watch the video.

It seems obvious not to post something like this. Why even film it?
Likes. He did it for the likes and fanbois who followed him. I blocked him long before he shit on the company Patrick started. "Hike Angry", sure narcisdist dude. Most of my Kifaru is OD....

Maybe I'm not seeing the video that is "extremely disturbing" or torturous. I see a wounded coyote pulled out of a hole and stabbed with a knife to kill it. Not glamorous or ideal, but doesn't seem egregious. Am I missing something? I suppose maybe the kicks? Or am I not seeing the right video?

While I rarely enter the discussion, it seems most of the comments are from folks who have not trapped.
I don’t know the guy at all, but if you spend enough time hunting, trapping and fishing, surely there is a time or two when things don’t go as planned.
Not defending him or the video. But man, when is killing not killing?

I’ve been holding off on replying to this thread, as I don’t have anything constructive to add. If he legitimately only had a knife and was trying to dispatch a wounded animal, I’d be more likely to give him a pass on this video. Obviously it wasn’t handled very well, but I could give him the benefit of the doubt that he was trying to avoid being bitten and things got western. I just have a very hard time believing that there was no other options. Seems like a coyote got wounded, they walked out to finish it off, and then someone said “ Hey dude, I bet you aren’t man enough to kill it with your pocket knife!”

If that's tge case I'm not sure the kick and slap in the head was necessary after he stabbed it.

I don't know Aron and don't know BP. I live in California and have grown up spearfishing since I was four and started hunting big game when I was 13. As a California resident, hunting and fishing are hanging on by a thread. This is not the fault of the hunting community, but things like this video certainly don't help. As hunters, I believe that we have a responsibility for the way that our society perceives what we do. Whether we like it or not, there is a much larger group of people who know very little about hunting that we depend on (votes, land access, blocking ridiculous predator initiatives, marine protected areas, etc).

I don't really care for social media, but a lot of people do. There are a lot of people who get their information about hunters that way and for every post that portrays hunters in a negative light (like the Aron/coyote one), it takes thousands of good ones to spin the narrative back into the positive side. And unfortunately at this point, its pretty hard to not see that a lot of hunters trying to make it big on social media are going to bring the whole damn thing down on all of our heads.

My dad always used to say about professional athletes that "we really don't know any of these guys." The same is true in the hunting community. I get that the video is old, but I had a neighbor ask me if "I heard about that guy in Wyoming who got caught torturing the coyote." Low and behold when I went on the internet this afternoon, I saw all of this.

Snyder, Hanes, Bowmar, that dude that calls himself the healthy hunter or whatever and a bunch of other "influencers" whose names I don't know, have done things that brings negative light to something that we all enjoy. Whether society is "soft" or not (and you can certainly argue that it is), it doesn't matter because that same soft society is going to shut everything down on us and we're all going to get screwed.

I am not perfect and don't claim to be. I've made my share of mistakes for sure. However, the second you start filming everything, its like having a loaded gun. It's brought down many and it looks like it has unfortunately taken Aron down too. I do not wish bad on anyone. The whole situation sucks. What is a huge bummer however, is that this now sucks for all of us, not just Aron.

Whoever posted this had an axe to grind. I highly doubt 8 years ago this being posted was even a thought, Anyone who’s hunted has been in unfortunate situations. This one just happened to be recorded. So dumb! Really makes you wonder if the person that posted this knew how big of a negative impact it would bring.

Holding onto a video for 8 years and dropping it now is a serious grudge. This is some psyop work that would make Mossad proud.
