What’s the deal with Arken? Is it worth the hype? Or should I just stick with a regular like vortex or Leupold.

Was looking at the Arken epl4 for my 6.5 Grendel

In the long range hunting forum here on Rokslide, there are scope evals. You may want to check them out.

I’d shoot an Arken over Leupold and Vortex honestly. Vortex is trash. Leupold has better glass, but isn’t proving to be any more durable than anything else low end. So I’d save the money and get an Arken. I have a few myself. As well as some high end scopes. Arken performs just fine

I have heard good things about Arken from the local benchrest community. Leupolds from the mid 2000's back are good, as I have used them for nearly 40 years with no issues. Additionally, I operate a small gun business and sell alot of pre-owned optics. Older Leupolds sell better than any other brand for me. Higher end Vortex are good as well. Vortex recently entered into a nearly $3 billion contract to make small arms optics for the US military. These optics are US made and thoroughly evaluated. In addition, eight IBS 1000 yard benchrest records were recently set by a single shooter using multiple rifles. Each was equipped with Vortex optics.

I"ve had the EPL 6-24x on my PRC for a few months now and it has performed great on targets, hogs, and a few cull whitetail does. It dials correctly and returns to zero perfectly as well. Glass gets you well past legal shooting light, easily. I put an EPL 4-16x on a 7-08 and havent' shot it nearly as much but it performs exactly the same. I'd buy more in a heartbeat.

My sample size of 1. But with 1” lbs of torque on the rings here is my parallax:

Yes, eventually the replaced the scope with no post mortem to see what failed. And who knows what its replacement will do as is shipped it off to someone else

The one I got does that. They finally replied and said to heat the parallax knob with a hairdryer while turning it...not sure if that was an April Fools joke or if they were serious

Mine does not do that noise. Its nice and quiet and work pretty good. Its tough to beat at the lower end price range.

All the said to me was to have it mounted as far out as possible on both side of the scope. Didn’t change anything, obviously.

I really hope it’s an April fools joke but….

I primarily use mostly Burris Signature XTR rings and never had such issues.

I recently bought 4 each Arken EP5s 5-25x56, EPL4s in 4-16x44 and 6-24x50 12 total to see sample variance received January and I kept all of them. They're the cheapest pretty good quality Chinese made scopes with superior turrets and zero stops that I currently own.

I also bought couple Nightforce NX8s as well and Athlon Ares ETR 3-18x50 and Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18x44s FFP 34mm. Most recent purchase was a Maven RS.4 5-30x56 I like it so much I'm buying another one. They're almost as clear as my Vortex Razor Gen 3s and Element Optics Theos and way clearer than my Burris XTR3i.

I've got a ep5 on rimfire target rifle. It's a very good scope for a target application where weight doesn't matter. I've spent much more on scopes that are marginly better.
