Anyone using or have used this brand rifle scope, and what are the reviews.I have a best friend who is looking at them for on a 6.5 CM for his grandson on a antelope hunt this fall if they draw tags ( the grandson is in the Navy and his grandfather is putting together a reasonable rifle and glass for him to use) The grandson has some experience with hunting eastern whitetails. I gave him a .308 Handy rifle a few years back topped with a 3X9 tasco that he has used for them and done well with it. So this will be a totally new experience for him, Regretfully I will not be able to make this hunt and his grandfather and I have been discussing the situation.Once the set up is complete the rifle and load will be developed for 500 yards max. I know this is not the best situation but due to the boys situation he will not be able to come home for that part. He is looking at the Arken Optics SH4J6-24X50 FFP, Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I have a epl 4-14 on a Ar15. Its actually pretty nice. It was on a christmas sale for around $270. It does not compare to $2,000 glass but its still pretty nice for the money and I like the reticle. In Forms drop tests I believe they survived the 18” drops but not the 36” so its not completely fragile but def not a hard use scope.

I have that exact scope ( SH4J ) on a Tikka Super Varmint in 6.5 Creedmoor. I use it strictly as a range rifle out to 500, and have used it to 1K . Have been VERY pleased with its performance ( tracking, zero, turrets, zero stop, etc. ), particularly at its price point. It is NOT a Nightforce or equivalent when it comes to glass quality. Just one guy, but have no reason not to recommend. Have no experience with the EPL, so cannot compare. Also, the SH4J is on the hefty side. Not a problem at the range ( weight is your friend) but in a hunting scope, maybe not so much.

4-16 I meant.

Also around 12 ounces lighter then that 6-24. That was a big selling point for me

My son and I have each had a 4-16 and 6-24 EPL4 on a 6.5CM, 260, and a couple of 6.5 PRC for going on a couple of years. They've been great plunking targets out to 1000 yds, killing deer, and whacking hogs. So far so good.

Just put an LH4 4-16x on a .17wsm for prairie dogs out in S. Dakota. Had a blast and whacked one at 300 yds.

I shoot 500 yds and closer. It's the least expensive scope that's worth anything certainly in the $250-350 price point. You're certainly not going to find anything better in that price range.

I have Vortex FFPs mostly Diamondback FFP Tacticals, on all my rifles, but 6 yrs ago in Montana my brothers Vortex PST Gen 1 got knocked around in the scabbard and was off by damn near a foot when we got home.

Since then, I've been wrapping electrical tape around my turrets--yea even with my Nightforce SHV F1 scope--yup, I'm THAT paranoid.

But when I got the .17wsm I love the FFP, Christmas tree retical. Illuminated retical (I really could care less about the IR retical, but it's a feature.) And the glass IS better than my diamondbacks. But it has CAPPED TURRETS, along with the ability to unscrew the elevation and windage knobs and return them to zero. It's not a "zero stop" that you cant click down any further than your set screws or shims or push zeros, but it's more of a "return to zero" so you can still click up or down, but then return to the zero notch on the knob.

The ONLY thing I'm not a huge fan of is that the retical has MOA numbers every 4 increments. I prefer numbers every 2 MOA, like my Diamondbacks.

The retical is a dot in the middle with a gap to 1 MOA hash, then a 2 MOA long pillar that you can measure from 1-3 MOA, then another gap then the 4 MOA post that then lists the MOA numbers every 4 minutes.....

So instead of just reading 2-4-6-8 MOA numbers, I gotta count individual hash marks between the numbers. So 0, 4, 8, 12

If I have to shoot something at 7 MOA, I gotta find 4 MOA then count down to 7 or find 8 and count up to 7....

Not my preference. Wish it was numbers every 2 MOA like my Diamondbacks.

That being said, I ordered another LH4 for my 30-06. It should be here in 2 weeks.

Yeah I know it's not a Nightforce or SFWA that all RokSlider's have hard ons for. But I've never had a scope fail me. And I don't mind going out before my hunts to check my zeros. Thw Arken passed the 18" drop test, and that's fine by me if the gun tips over after being set against a tree. Even with my NF, if I dropped it, I would still have to reverify zero to have peace of mind. They're all mechanical tools, and everything mechanical can break.

Recertifying zero in fact, I prefer it, just to get more trigger time and verify my stuff and it makes me feel more confident. And yes--I still reverify my zero with my 300WM Tikka T3x with my Nightforce SHV. I'd feel nervous if I didn't. 5-20 rounds to reverify is worth my piece of mind for a hunt.

So far, I really like the LH4 scope and certain the price. It checks a lot of boxes and so far it's been everything I want in a scope.

Keep in mind, there is a little tit sticking out the bottom of the scope under the turrets, that if mounting in low rings directly on a tikka receiver (like with UM rings) it won’t work.

4x16 on my Hell's canyon speed 7mm-08. Done everything I needed to do so far. Dialed it a ton and RTZ is reliable.

I have several of the newer Arkens, 4-16s and 6-24s. I like them a lot.
I used the 6-24 the other day dialing from 100 - 500 and back again and it was flawless.

Thanks for the information from everyone,I have passed along the information it’s now up to him which way to go.
