Javelina is fun and they taste fine, don’t let any nay sayers tell you otherwise. Just don’t pop the gland when you skin them, and switch knives when you start butchering the meat and it’s all good. There are some big ones out there.

There used to be a time here a turkey tag was almost a guaranteed tag. Beginning in the early 2000s, I drew 7 consecutive turkey tags. There were hundreds of leftover javelina tags too.

The dynamics have forever changed in Arizona. Just too many people now competing for tags.

Same. I used to turkey hunt in AZ every year never fail. At one time even a Goulds tag wasn't that hard to get. Those things are almost a once in a lifetime tag now and you've got to be really lucky or have max points to get one.

No turkey again for me or my wife. Jesus it’s been years now, pretty annoying. But I did get a piggy tag and so did my boys, so that will be fun. I have never done the January youth hunt before, so we will see how it goes when it’s cold.

January? All but one over decades have been archery January pigs. No different than any other hunt other than they don’t tend to start very early when it’s cold. Glass them up, go over and get one. If you’ve never glassed up a pile of frozen pigs you’ve missed out. Whiney little crybabies
