Hey guys, I have been a lurker for a few weeks since I found this forum. I searched high and low for forums like this for awhile before I stumbled across this. You guys have an awesome community and I hope to become a contributing part of it!
I'll start with a short introduction about myself. I'm still fairly young, a couple days short of 22 with lots left to learn. I recently started a career as a Police Officer in Arizona. I have lived here all my life and grew up in the desert, went to college in some of the best elk country in the world. I worked as a bow technician throughout college at a top notch archery shop and spent more days in the woods than I did in school.
Coues hunting is my passion and I am very fortunate to have harvested Gold Medal bucks in Archery and Handgun class (SCI). I also love hunting bugling bulls in the rut, whether it be behind a call for others or a bow for myself. Predator calling has been a long time obsession of mine, and I am on the field staff for a few companies that are in that business.
For the past couple years I have been into backpack hunting. Mostly solo hunts because my hunting partners typically do not like to exert as much as I do into a hunt. However, I'm certainly not on the up and up with all the latest techniques in backpack hunting and I look forward to continuing learning about it here, and possibly meet people who would be interested in backpack hunting together.
I am very interested in Long Range hunting, both with archery and rifles, I recently put together a .338 lapua that I am still in the process of building a pet load for. I shoot my 80 pound Hoyt Alphamax (I know I'm a bit dated but it shoots so well I cant bring myself to switching bows yet!) out to 110 yards regularly as well.
Heres a couple pictures of animals from the last couple seasons. These are all archery.
2012 coues, solo backpacking, sorry for the picture, I couldn't figure out the timer on my new Iphone, and left the camera at home. This buck scores a touch over 90" and was taken at the end of the season. Not the buck I wanted, but I figured 90" of coues is a hell of a lot better than 0!

Heres my best friends bull from 2011. He lived in Tucson and I was up in the country going to school so I put in the legwork locating this bull and we managed to get him killed the last day of the season thanks to his expert marksmanship and some serious luck, he slammed an arrow through the bulls chest at 86 yards and dumped him!

Heres my 2011 coues, he would go #8 all time SCI archery if I put him in the book. 117 and 7/8ths". This buck was quite the juggernaut and took two arrows 7 days apart to put down. Lots of sweat, blood, and tears went into getting him killed. It was featured in a full article in the 2011 Outdoorsmans Resource Guide.

And my 2012 Javelina which was my longest big game kill with a bow at 114 yards. I included it because I really like the picture and it shows off what were lucky enough to have here in AZ

Again, I am very happy to have found a community that shares similar interests as I have, as opposed to most of the hunting forums that always seem to have me looking more for real DIY western hunters, that put in the work and get 'er done! I look forward to becoming a part of the community!
