I’m a NR with 21pts. Trying to decide between 1, 3C, & 9. I know it’s early and hunting is still going on, but I’m already looking forward to next year. What would ya’ll do. I’m leaning toward 1 because I’ve been in that general area. I should be a go for an archery tag, still a coupe of years from Muzzle/rifle. Thanks, not looking for anyone’s area, just feeling out what the consensus would be

So idk what unit they will offer for early muzzy next yr or rifle as they alternate them every yr but I don’t think u will draw most w 20 pts. That said I’d prolly do 9 for archery if u are comfortable w archery. Otherwise watch what they offer upcoming for the alternate gun hunts this fall. I just got back from a early rifle hunt there in a limited opp unit and killed a decent bull but it was very limited elk but when we found theM it was insane bugling and elk everywhere. But it took 8 days to find a single elk.

You can't go wrong with any of those.....if you want to really drive yourself crazy sign up for go hunt and run all the draw potentials based on bull/cow ratio, trophy potential, etc, etc,.... I'm not advocating for go hunt in particular, but you get a free 30 days if you sign up now......that's what I did....cool info there for sure, organized well.

if I had 21 points I'd go 9. My parents have a house on 1/27 line in Alpine and I spent my summers in that part of the world.... that's all top notch too.

Spend those points!

Good quandary to have you are right in the thick of it for archery. Lots of good advice above, have never been but done tons and tons of research and would have to say 9 also. I'm at 16 and just need to accept 9,1,3c,10 archery probably isn't going to happen.

They're all good choices but I would decide based on how you like to hunt. Do you like to glass up your bulls and pick one to go after? Then unit 1 is probably the best choice. 9 and 3C are less glassable so it'll be almost all short range action and harder to target a bull from far away. Just depends on how you want to hunt.

I commend all who have the patience to play the point game. If i end up with 2 pts in a state, i start to lose my mind over it. Especially now that states are moving towards buying a small game license. I know AZ has been that way for a long time now.

I agree! I’ve had two AZ elk tags and never had over 4 pts but I have had some luck too in the drawing but def no glory tags just Lower tier hunts

Depends on the year really. Some years the rim gets more rain than 9 or 10. All the hunts are fantastic. I would personally rank them 9, 3a/3c then 1. More of a personal preference than anything tho. The potential for 380+ is there in all those units.
