Argali Selway

Hi all,
Been looking for a do it all tent for myself. It seems like Argali Selway is the front runner. Unfortunately it’s so new that I can’t seem to find many reviews. I know there is one on this website, but I can’t just take a sponsored by review for its word.

I live in the arctic. Sometimes it’s me and my wife, sometimes it’s my wife, my dog, and my two kids. I have a stove already. We have a 4 person Kifaru tipi that I believe I believe is discontinued. Who knows I’ve had it for quite sometime.

Sometimes it’s my buddy and I. I used it this year on a caribou trip, he had his own one man but between my gear and him in the tent on rainy days the condensation was unbearable on rainy days. Too small. I want to upgrade and from everything I am looking at the Selway seems to be a clear winner. I’d purchase liners and insert for when the wife and kids are with in the summer. I’d bivy, the wife and kids could take the insert.

All in all it comes out to just shy of $1500 as I’d want both liners. I need some honest reviews. I probably spend 30-50 days between fishing, bou, moose, bear, and general camping.

Any opinions? I’m jaded towards kifaru or seek because of the sag in the rain. Is the argali that much better? Can it handle the wind?

I want some space to hang out in the shitty weather. Thoughts? I love the stove option but part of me is thinking just a 4-6 person big Agnes. Weight isn’t a terrible issue for me but it’s some issue. 4-6 big Agnes I can hangout with the hunting partner in the rain; good for wife and kids. Can it handle the wind? Any opinions appreciated.

I have had the 4 person Big Agnes Copper Spur for the past eight years. Absolutely stellar tent, withstands wind well I had it collapse on me the first time this past summer before I was able to get the guy lines down. It is still water proof after all this time with little damage to show. I absolutely love it and would recommend.

I purchased a Rincon three years ago and have used it solo and with a buddy while backpack hunting. This past year was the first time (drew a rifle tag and so I hunted October) that dealt with serious snow. One specific night was steady 40-50 mph winds where I was camped high with freezing rain that transitioned to snow. It did stellar with all the guy lines down taut. Condensation did become a problem but that was expected because I chose not to carry the half-insert.

I chose to upgrade to a Selway for backpack trips with the family because we have two dogs as well so the Big Agnes is getting too tight now that my six year old requires a full length sleeping pad. I was timid about the purchase without practical reviews out there but based on how my Rincon has held up, I decided it was worth the transition. It opens up a few options, especially as my 77 year old father can’t utilize my slide in camper any more so I will be able to set him up with the wood stove and I can feed it during the night during spring / fall camping.

One curiosity do have, is whether I should make my guy lines longer than the 6’ segments I currently use on my Rincon / Copper Spur. But that is something I can figure out once it’s been purchased

And those liners are so nice in wet conditions. It also held up great to the wind in Wyoming last September. It's not typically windy where I live so this was a great opportunity to see how it would perform.

Not taken personally. I appreciate your perspective and can see how it could appear that way. Keep in mind that any honest review is never black and white and there is no perfect product for all uses.

Nope it is a Christmas present from my wife so chances are it won't see any dirt until our spring break camping trip.
