After some additional testing, I decided to sell my Stone Glacier Chilkoot and keep only the Argali Alpine and the Peax Solace.

The Chilkoot is a legit backcountry sleeping bag, but of the 3, it was the one I preferred the least.

Following this decision, I thought I’d do a shorter review and comparison between just the Peax and the Argali 0° sleeping bags - eliminating some of the fluff and non-pertinent information.

Instead of doing another long write up covering the specs of these bags, I wanted to simply do a video and explain what I like and prefer about each bag.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I’ll answer them if I can! Thanks!

What led to the decision to ditch the SG?
Mainly the zipper and the overall size of the bag. I wasn’t a fan of the OSFA option SG has for their bags. Being under 6’ tall, a bag for a 6’6” individual lead to dead space and extra space I needed to keep warm.

I felt like Argali addressed a lot of the issues I had with the SG. Anti-snag zipper, optional bag sizes, and an internal cellphone pocket. It’s also a more compact option that, I believe, provides very similar warmth capabilities.

Yeah tons of feedback on needing a “short” bag.

Wonder if they are getting that. Anyone know if there’s someone from SG on here?

If they made a shorter bag and went to an anti-snag zipper, it would address my 2 biggest issues with them. If they also added a dedicated internal cellphone pocket, that would be another + in their book!

It was called the Mobile Mummy and was a 15* bag. Its not in their current line up it appears but you can google it.
Ahh, found it. I was looking through their current line up.

I will say, it does look like a decent bag, and if someone was on a budget, would have definitely been a good option. Biggest differences I found were they use duck down (almost always cheaper when compared to similar goose down at equal fill power) and the shell materials (20D Nylon vs the 15D Toray Airtastic). The Solace is also a bit more roomy.

I am curious why Sierra Designs stopped producing it.
