public land thermaling- its sooooo common in australia now, everyone who couldnt find the elusive deer are now taking "trophy" deer more often than not- an those who couldnt find deer are now harvesting 3x more.
with no herd managment its a downward spiral IMO, but the govt doesnt want the deer.... nor our guns it seems.

But To You guys in America..... where does thermal sit with you on Public land?
is it even hunting anymore? or just looking to kill?

love to hear it.

Highly confident I watched some guys using one this fall. They would ride 50-100 yards in a utv, do a scan or two then ride and repeat. Appeared they saw just as many deer as I did in the clearcut, zero. I’ve been hearing stories of it exactly as I witnessed for a couple years. Super lame considering the time I spent looking over the area vs what they did

It seems like we are getting a lot of these type of FNG

yeah i think its making some hunters more lazy here, driving around high country "glassing" with their thermal.
its also gaining instafame here with YT videos of these "trophy" deer being shot but no mention of the thermal device they scanned the hillside to find it with , in a mere 30 minute session..

its very much a "closet" thing here..... ghey as aidz i rekon on public land...

good tool for private land population control- two different things though, hunting and culling.

sad times.
*edit- they made it Legal, durin day light hours, down here..... so plenty of Camo Clad legends with 300 PRCs shooting "big" deer, every 2nd weekend.

Not legal for big game but is fun as hell shooting coyotes at night. Should get my new thermal in a few days. Got a few different places that have been loosing calves so can’t wait.

I’m pretty sure if that ever came up in the US it would lead to some pretty hard resistance. As for AUS from my limited conversations with Aussies you have a number of invasive species as well and some kangaroo problems. If people want to put lead into something that needs some management by all means use thermal. However, for desirable game like dear etc. it sounds pretty distasteful to me.

You absolutely are, unless you need validation from other people online in how you define something like hunting. Then you are not.

Depends on "your" definition of hunting weather it hunting or just killing like playing a computer game...

Not hunting in the traditional sense to me. But great way to fill a freezer in desperate times?

And we wonder why forums are dying... I'm over reading dumb arse comments.

Whatever sorry, ban me, I'm not good at playing by rules. A wise man taught me rules are made to be bent, not broken 💔

Sorry I liked forums in the good old days before unsocial media platforms killed them and society
