Are there quiet gaiters that work with Timberline & Mt. pants?

The Sitka gaiters are way too loud, the Kuiu gaiters fall apart...I want something suitable for hiking in tall and wet dark-thirty grass to keep my legs dry.

I think I read most people use the OR Crocs. Not sure how loud they are though.

Hopefully help you out with process of elimination. I would not recommend the Kenetrek Snow Cammo gaiters, they seem quite but snow cakes and balls up on the material. Have not used them in just rainy conditions. Will be taking my black OR next hunt but haven't used them on a Archery hunt. But my guess is that they are not super quite material.

Just saying the Kuiu gaiters fall apart is pretty vague. I've had a pair of Kuiu gaiters for several years now and used them hard and they haven't "fell apart". Can you explain a little better what you mean?

Just repeating what was posted on AT.

Regardless if Kuiu gaiters fall apart or not I'm interested in quiet gaiters not made by Kuiu. I currently have OR Cascadias and they are ridiculously loud. Has anyone tried the OR mil spec gaiters ? I know they are 1000D cordura but I'm not sure how loud they are. I suspect they're pretty loud.

With knee pads or without? I took mine out because of them not fitting with gaiters. But without, the OR Excpedition Crocs fit fine.

As far as quietness, it's a compromise. If you're going to not absorb water and not get shredded in underbrush, it's going to have to be harder than fleece. I've never had an issue with noise with these. I'm used to busting through alder thickets, which is anything but silent no matter what you have on. And if you're not in alders, you're in alpine or grass and noise isn't an issue walking in that either. The noise of the grass parting around my legs is the noise itself, not it brushing against my gaiters.
I've got a couple pairs of these. One is Cordura all the way around and the other is only Cordura on the inside and lighter standard nylon around the back and outside. If you've not used the Expedition Crocs they're great in snow and they're dry as a bone. I use the lighter standard ones for warm weather training and they're dry too. Great products, but if the Sitka gaiters were too loud for you, these probably will be too.

After reading the comments about Kenetreks and seeing they too us Velcro, i have ruled them and the OR Crocs out. Yes, I will be wearing the kneepads.

just curious What is the issue with the velcro? The Kenetreks I have are very quit when wearing them have held up very well in the underbrush on the WA coast and the desert brush

Your probably going to have a hard time finding a quality 4 season gaiter not made with a velcro closure, but heres something thats fits your wants http://kingofthemountain.com/shop/feet-hands/stalker-gaitors/ .. I use OR crocs in the winter and Rab neo gaiters the rest of the time, Both products work well but would probably be considered noisy to a bowhunter(The Rabs less so). Also I can't personally comment on the kuiu gaiters but know firsthand from friends that swear by them...I have used the kenntreks and gave them away after the second use, I found them to be hot and were always falling down ( I have skinny legs though so take that for what its worth). Hope that helps

I have a pair of these in green if you are interested.

You can see my father wearing them here for color reference. However, they may interfere with your knee pads though.

Kenetrek served me well on my AK caribou hunt this year! I definitely recommend them.

Or flex techs are what I use to run, they won't interfere with knee pads and are pretty quite as well. I really don't think your going to find a gator without Velcro that will work well. Not sure why you don't want them to have Velcro. Short of getting neoprene wader gaiters my sure how quite they are gonna be.

What about KOM wool gators?

The wool would be pretty quiet compared to other fabrics. I kinda think you might spend a lifetime removeing all the burrs.
I own a pair of gortex gaiters in Max-1 camo. Only used them once. They seemed ok. When they are wet there fairly quiet. Nice to have on after a soaking rain the night before. I did some snowshoeing back in the day and used some canvas pack cloth gaiters that were very loud and not water proof at all. They would keep the snow out of your pack boots but it built up and froze to the material. Returned them to the lender after one day of grouse hunting.
