I’ve been an OnX member for several years and love the product. But lately I’ve been seeing more and more pop up ads on the app.
It’s a small thing I know, but it drives me crazy.

Are there any solid alternatives to OnX?

I use both Gaia and OnX. OnX is better for the hunting specific waypoints and is a bit simpler to use. I primarily use it for the crop layer.

Gaia is more customizable and is superior in almost every way that matters to me, especially once you manually import the Google Earth layer.

I’d look at GoHunt Maps and Basemap first. A lot of it comes down to what matters most ... land ownership, offline use, layering, or planning tools. OnX is still solid, but plenty of guys end up liking one of the others better once they match it to how they actually hunt.

OnX taking away all functionality on the free version really bothered me. I used to use it all year and then just pay for premium during hunting season.

I started with Gaia and am still using it because really like it. I tried OnX for a while, and I prefer the convenience it provides being able to share info with other users, but that was the only thing I liked better than Gaia.

I sent them an email asking if there is a way to turn off these offers because I have no desire to see that when I open my app. Maybe if enough people suggest that they will get the hint.

Can you explain how to import the google earth layer? I’ve been a Gaia user forever but didn’t know this was possible.

Try Spartan Forge and check out the 3D and lidar maps. I believe they added a layer for like sun angle by time as well but haven't played around with that. The satellite maps have a UAV option for detailed images they claim are the best, otherwise every company is buying and using the same gov satellite imagery. It wasn't available for my area yet so not sure how big of an upgrade that is.

I think code "bowhunter" is the discount code a lot of the sponsored podcasts use for a discount.

I was getting ads (during a track, no less) as am Elite member. I called to complain and they said that's not right and will fix it. That was 2023 and I see they are full of it.
