Are custom turrets worth the money ?
I very rarely shoot past 350 meters, mainly because I shoot a old Remington 788 .308 win
but I nevEr know when I get a aoudad or prongHorn permit or invite Or a mule deer hanging out some place hard to approach
$80 for them

In my opinion, turrets and dials aren't needed for anything less than 500 yards and so, definitely wouldn't spend an extra eighty bucks for custom.

Remember this is Rokslide so a custom turret is bad. But a permanent cheat sheet taped to your rifle butt is ok. So is the use of taped distances on your turret. Lesson learned: any method is Rokslide-approved as long as laser etching is not involved.

The fact is that the bulk of hunters hunt the same location the same time of year under comparable weather conditions year after year with the same rifle/scope/ammo. That is a perfect setup for custom turret or any other permanently affixed item to your rifle and/or scope.

Use what makes sense for you and perform all required due diligence.

Kinda my thought ,
since I switched from a 300wm to .308win people keep telling me to get them because the crazy ark a 308 shoots .

Don't believe them. Just because a .308 has a higher or more rounded trajectory, doesn't mean you can't hit and kill something with it at 300, 400 and 500 yards WITHOUT a turreted scope that has dials and gizmos. My 7x57 Mauser is a classic case on point; football trajectory, but still lethal out to 500 yards with a standard old-fashioned 2-7x Leopold.

I agree a custom turret is not needed, especially shooting at that distance. I will admit, I am looking forward to seeing what a custom turret is capable of on my 6.5 CM since the first turret was free.
