Arctic Oven Nunatek

Just posting to request any further commentary on the Arctic Oven Nunatek tent.

I’m 6’8, and looking for the tallest tent that I could also use as a hot tent. I’m not wanting some massive structure so this looks ideal with a semi small footprint and only needing 1 pole.

It sounds like from the few previous threads that the tent is high quality - but with the vapex only coming down part way there were questions on its effectiveness against cold…?

Any other recommendations?

Anybody here have experience with this particular tent? I know their other Artic Oven tents are held in high regard, and I may get one of those instead, but I’m looking at this one purely for weight savings. Seems as though there is very little online about these so Im just looking for your personal experience with it and if you regret not getting a different one of theirs or someone else’s.

It’ll be for three guys on cots, with a stove, and all of our gear on a lake hunt that’s going to be around 18 days long. It’ll be used here in the lower 48 as well for late season elk hunts getting...

I’m looking at this one for moose hunts. I’ll be at the Anchorage store in July and hopefully check them out. vs the igloos. Can report back.

Ive spent a fair amount of time with these tents, the new model isnt as warm for sure but how warm do you need it ? Pros and cons for sure...ive really enjoyes the tents over the years in a wide veriety of conditions

I’m assuming weight is a consideration when looking at this tent? If height is a bigger priority then take a look at a spring bar hot tent. Or a regular wall tent.

I own the old version of the nunatuk that has a floor in the 10x18. I’d guess the ceiling is at 6’6” Got it for the lighter weight. Gets plenty warm with a wood stove. Usable space is much more than tepee, but walls start to sag after a few days even when using the guy outs. Not as durable but mine held up set up for 2 trapping winters before it started to fall apart.

If weight is not a consideration then I would recommend the spring bar hot tent. Set up is a bit easier, usable space is better. Ceiling height is slightly higher, maybe 7’? I don’t have the hot tent version, but use the regular version when we visit family in Michigan. It’s probably double the weight of the similar size nunatuk. (Don’t think I have a photo of spring bar tent).

other than it not having a floor they are nice tents
