Struck out on an archery hunt this September, looking at going back for General Rifle season. A lot of variables and would be glad to talk more specifically with PM. This is a Wyoming tag.
Ive tried this before in Montana, heading back for the rifle season, when I wasnt able to punch the tag. Hunting similar areas and terrain what is your experience with finding elk and hunting pressure?
I am not an experienced rifle elk hunter. I wouldn't claim to shoot long distance with 400 yards being a long shot.
Looking at October 19th through the 24th. More mountain type terrain.
My plan right now would be to hunt the pockets of timber I know hold elk in archery season. Glass small open pockets in the timber and still hunt the heavy stuff with any luck of fresh snow. Willing to pack the tent in but limited to distance with it most likely being a solo hunt.
Thoughts and input welcomed.
