Archery stalk questions

Damn! How big of a pack are you carrying? So you’re running your pack all the way to the shot?
In some areas, leaving your pack is a problem. First, you may shoot and then, have to go back to the pack, which unless the location of the deer is well-marked, may be a problem. Bringing your pack means you can sit, eat, have some water and wait a half hour if you need to without incident. I just keep mine on unless I'm sitting for a good while. I'm talking mostly daypack here.

I typically use a larger day pack as well. I wear my pack up until the point where I am putting my stalking gear on - typically thick wool socks over whatever socks I am wearing. You're going to love it - watch out for cactus. I may get some snake gaiters for this season. I had a couple rattlesnake encounters last time - almost stepped on one once in the tall grass. Here is a neat pic I got. My hunting buddy was on a stalk - it's a little hard to see the buck but he's there! The buck is up and towards the right of the larger juniper in the middle. My buddy is towards the top at the base of the hill. He did not kill this deer unfortunately!ND 2024.jpg
