Hey all. So I’ve used a couple different chronos
On the same setup arrow and now and the registered speeds different quite a big from machine to machine. Each arrow is consistent on the same machine but not from machine to machine. Now work this in with a movable sight tape and hummm. Things are not correct. Then when I do the 20-60 amd mark the tape and match it to the site tapes they too seem to show the bow going slower then the Chono or the tape supplied. It all seems so superficial to be honest. So I’ve resorted to just making my own tapes on archers advantage and it’s bang on when matches with my 20-60 marks.

Does anyone have some tips on shooting through a chrono for the best results ?
Best or most consistent machine ?

Thanks gang

Shoot 30 and 80, or 20 and 60, mark a temp sight tape made from trimmed stickey note, compare to printed tapes, pick sight tape, go hunt. Don't use a chrono for pre printed tapes, it doesn't work except by chance. Your peep height and sight distance will change the pin gap, deceleration differences of the arrow will change the overall spread.

Yup and that’s what I’ve been doin. It’s still fun to mess around tho. These sight tapes must’ve been tested for speeds at a set chrono distance and arrow weight tho. Seems silly to send a tape at all if we’re just gonna make our own anyways lol. Just send a pack of sticky notes hahaha

Arrow needs to pass over the sensors evenly. If it shoots askew to them it will throw it off. Meaning you need to make sure you shoot at a target that is sitting shoulder high, so your arrow is shooting level, then level the chrono. If shooting down, you need to have the chrono aimed down. Their will be some difference chrono to chrono tho.

I sometimes put my chrono off to the side and turn it 90 over if shooting outside. It helps to keep the sun from playing with it, assuming you point it away from the sun when you do it. Cloudy days seem to work better overall.

My wife's bow shoots 243fps. I use a 264.5 tape for it.

If you have a range and he ability, shoot 20-90 and get a tape, it should fit the best. I shoot 20-50 and use a brake caliper tool to measure and match then I shoot 50-90 and repeat so I have no creep.

I like the shooting chrony beta blue with the light kit. Make sure you have no flourescent lights on where you're testing as they can screw up the readings. Bright sunlight can screw it up too.

You want the arrow going through the chrono true, no vertical or horizontal angle. Still generally only comparable within your own testing - not chrono to chrono which is why I always do my tapes by shooting marks.
