Arca plate on the Outdoorsman Micro

Since I don't plan on running my binos on the tripod for summer backpacking, I figured an Arca adapter made more sense than the standard Outdoorsmans. If you run the Peak Design capture clip this will simplify things quite a bit. I found a skeletonized Arca adapter that weighs within 0.3oz of the original. Just pop off the snap ring so you can remove the top piece and get at the screw on the bottom.

Sorry to resurrect and old thread but I was looking for a way to do this. Do you lose any functionality like pan, tilt, etc.? I'm guessing no but I don't have a micro in my hand at the moment.

Everything works as normal. You just need to get the plate adapter on square when it's tightened down.

I was able to do it. I didn’t pull the clip and just used a short headed Allen key which can reach in that space.

What's the best way to pop off the "snap ring? Just a flat head under it? Is the snap ring the bigger silver ring or the smaller black ring with 2 tabs?

Use snap ring pliers - it’s the black ring with 2 tabs. The silver ring is a thin washer. I suppose you could use two small flatheads in a pinch, but you’d likely scratch it up pretty good in the process.

Okay, got the snap ring off. Now I'm trying to get the bottom screw out. It's in there tight. Is it threaded regularly? As in "lefty loosey" will get it out?

Yes, standard thread.

Resurrecting an older thread for the 2nd time - but can you please add a link to the replacement arca adapter head you installed? There are a million of them on Amazon and I like the look and weight of yours if I can find the same one in Canada. Also can anyone tell me what size the Allen head is before I cut an Allen key down so I don’t have to take off the snap ring?
