Never had an issue until this year. I fly with a SKB double gun/ bow case packed to the limit of 50 lbs with clothes, knives, optics, etc. I don’t use TSA locks so that there is no opening it unless I am there. That became an issue this year. I got to the airport early and checked my bags. I waited 20 minutes before heading through security to make sure TSA did not need the keys. Once we were boarding, TSA called my gate and asked me to come back to security because the needed my keys. I had to sprint to TSA, sprint back and luckily the luggage handler was nice enough to go back to TSA and get my case and hold up the plane so it would not get left behind. TSA waited 1.5 hours before they called for the keys and never called my cell.
Lesson learned is to ask for a TSA inspection at check in, if you don’t use TSA locks.
This is the only issue I have had in 4 years of flying with my bow….other than the snobby lady at Denver yelling at me asking if I had a firearm…don’t think she was a big fan of hunters.
