I've got a BCM AR with 16" precision stainless barrel. The gun is an absolute tack driver. Most of it's use is shoting paper from a bench and a coyote hunt here and there. My only gripe about the gun is it's pretty front heavy. I'd like to change the stock to something like a sopmod or possibly a magpul prs. Something more suited to shooting with a scope. What are some good options to look at and what are your thoughts on a heavier stock to give the gun a better balance?

What profile is the barrel? And what’s ur current stock

I’m not a huge fan of the prs model in dynamic situations that aren’t prone/rear bagged.. I’d rather go ubr but ymmv.

The acs or acs light is probably enough weight to get the balance in closer towards the magwell compared to a ctr or something of that ilk.

Current stock is the stock bcm mod 0. I believe the barrel profile is medium.

I had a prs stock on a 308 rock river. It was a nice stock for bench or prone. That’s about all I ever did with that 15lb AR so it went down the road. The stock Was very adjustable and weighed approximately 2lbs so it would probably help shift your balance point rearward.

Magpul fixed stock, add spare parts or cleaning kit to the compartment... Sounds like you might be looking for adjustable, but I gave up on those a few years back and just rock the fixed ones for just that reason. They just seem to balance better for me.

i have a magpul one a rifle that has a heavy contour stainless. i specifilly bought the magpul becuase:
1)its adjustable length (duh)
2)it has a very good cheek weld needed for a scoped rifle
3)it has two battery compartments that you can keep batteries (or lead) in
You can switch the weight in or out of the stocks compartments at any time, no tools required.

After looking at options I do think I'd like to stay with something adjustable as I dont like a really long length of pull. The PRS also seems like it might be too heavy.

Anyone have experience with the BCM sopmod stock with the storage compartment?

I realized I didn’t mention I was speaking of the Magpul STR, not the prs
