With all this corona stuff going on I’ve delayed putting together an AR. I just saw the new offering from Hornady for the 6 ARC. Anyone have experience with that yet? Might be what I’m looking for

For long range shooting I could see it but sub 500 yards there’s not enough of a distance for me to justify the switch or even going with the ARC. It uses the same Grendel mags, which aren’t the most reliable compared to a pmag, parts are still very expensive for it, and ammo selection is going to be limited. If you want a faster Grendel, companies are loading 90/95 grain bullets, but then you have options for something heavier for big game

Last time i was out doing ADC work on a cattle ranch, the ranch owner on horseback watched me call in five yotes and shoot one with my bolt action 22-250. He told me to "gun up." Am building a POF AR10 in 6.5CM. The gun needs to kill everything from coyotes to wolves to bear and mt. lions. Need follow-up shots. Most shots are taken within 50-200 yards but with this rifle I can stretch that.

I shoot an 18" Wilson Combat .204 barreled AR out to 400 yards pretty good with a Leupold 6-18 VX2. Geisselle SSE trigger is a huge help. No recoil, Dogtown ammo is relatively cheap if you don't reload. Mags can be picky, so test them out ahead of time. I've had the best luck with 20 rd PMAGs, file down the ridge the follower rides on inside the mag body nearest the front edge of the mag.

Just about for it together, but I need to throw my sling on. 18” 6.5 Grendel, Hogster thermal. Looking forward to testing it when I’m off in a few weeks and my nightops ammo comes in

I use a .204 bolt gun but have been toying with the idea of building a .204 on the ar platform because I love the shooting experience with it. My only issue is I don’t like beating up my current ar’s and I don’t mind beating up my bolt guns

Nice setup! No muzzle device?

Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

Thanks!

Not currently, I didn’t want to put a muzzle break on it since the Grendel is mild recoil, I may do a flash hider but unsure. I’m 3 months into my suppressor wait, so maybe next year it’ll wearing that full time

Here is my 6.5 Grendel. 7.5lbs with scope. You could get a faxon ultralight barrel in any caliber and be around the same weight maybe even lighter. This one is an Odin works. I need to get the aero precision scope mount and an swfa ultralight scope and I will be closer to 7lbs. Spent about $500. I would drop weight in lots of areas but the price tag goes up considerably from were I’m at now.
I'm wanting to build a yote/whitetail AR, but have little knowledge on ARs, can you tell me what components you have in this build?

It can seem over whelming with all the parts but there is enough how to build articles. It really is super simple. I pieced mine together with used parts, blems, and sales. Here is my list:
-Odin works barrel w/ adjustable gas block
-Aero precision upper- atlas s-one keymod 12”
-Anderson lower
-Lower parts kit from palmetto- magpul
-Toolcraft bcg- just picked up a ultra light one so may have to try that out now
-vg6 muzzle brake

Hope that helps. I just kept checking weight and prices to find the balance between cost and weight that was suitable f

-Seekins billet upper, lower, and handguard
-timney trigger
-dracos 6.5 grendel 18”
-bushnell smrs 1-8.5
-banish 30

After doing a bunch of research and even more trial and error, I think this is a great setup as a do-it-all rifle . It’s only 1.3 mils of drop at 300. Compact for box blinds along with more comfortable to ears and shoulders.
