Looks like AB has released a new app Applied Ballistics Quantum that is free in the app store. If you have a AB compatible device already (sig rangefinder, etc) it upgrades you to the " Elite" version.

Will not connect to a kestrel yet, says coming 2025.

Gonna give it a go when the upgrade hits my phone and gear. Shows the upgrade will happen if you already have the App.

Post on Accurate Shooter by Doc Beech AB employee about the release:

The AppStore shows it as $29.95 for me as well, looks like it is only free if you already have Elite or an AB Elite compatible device.

The new AB Quantum™ Ultralite version is FREE with In-App Purchases for Elite or Grandfathered in. Pairing to compatible AB Elite devices will unlock the Elite version for free as well. Those without an AB Ecosystem device can still upgrade the program if they require more features.

Just for clarification, I have never purchased AB elite. The kilo rangefinder I linked to it comes with a version of AB light, but is "AB elite compatible". After downloading the free version of AB Quantum Ultralight when I paired the rangefinder it upgraded the app to the elite version.

I guess it's possible that since I already had the sig bdx app (that runs off ab lite), and/or the kestrel ballistics app, that it knew I had a compatible device.

Or, it's just being rolled out and for some reason isn't available in your "zone" yet.

My app was free, but I have elite with my kestrel so maybe it picked that up. For your rangefinder, when connecting to the new AB app does it give you ranges on board out to past 800 now? Before, with the utlralight it was limited to 800.

The literature says that Elite gives you a max range of 10sec TOF

3300 yds with my 6.5cm

If I get a chance I will try it out later. 100yd visibility with the fog right now.

Downloaded for free on my android. Looks pretty cool! Much better than hornady app. Though it won't save my data for my 270, immediately changes the bullet to 308 once hit save. Probably user error.

Free for me on apple. Have an AB kestrel and 2 sig AB rangefinders so assume they might somehow know that in the app store due to the sig apps?

As a genuine question, what does this offer me that my Sig AB app doesn’t?

Just the ability to manually run calcs without the use of the RF? Similar to the Hornady app?

I already had AB paid for, upgrade was free, all my profiles swapped over. However, I don't much care for the organization of profiles. I have over 20 rifles, plus several loads for each rifle. Now they're all in one folder, VS prior it was folders based upon rifle, under each rifle were the designated loads. Hopefully the remedy some these lil quirks. Also, all my mv numbers have been changed significantly from my entered values.

Yes, as a standalone solver.

Add the ability for ranging past 800yds and custom curves for some projectiles vs the sig app. Don't remember if the sig app has multiple wind values....

I'm sure there is more. (Target cards, etc)

I checked it again this morning and now it shows Get (free) with in App purchases. I don't have any connected AB devices and I don't believe I've ever had AB. I downloaded it and it seems operational.
