Long time reader, first time poster.

I just shot a 29 in aoudad with huuuuge chaps and a broken horn. He's a big dude and his "good" horn is beaten up pretty good as well. I shot him before I knew it was broken, but honestly, I prefer him over a "perfect" ram. It's a cool ram with a helluva back story I wish I knew.

Two questions -- would you do a slight turn to accentuate the broken horn or would you turn away from it?

What's your preferred auodad mount? I want to show off the chaps, but some of the pictures I've seen online, the mounts with the hooves make the ram seem oddly smaller than they appear in real life.

Thanks!

Right on congrats. Ideally the mount needs to look towards center of the room. If you have more than one wall to achieve this then its up to you on want to look at. I would think the bigger horn would need to be shown more and going towards the middle of the room than on the wall side.

Would you turn the ram to slightly show off the broken horn or to slightly hide it?

Any thoughts on the hooves?

thanks everybody!

Ive always preferred my mounts to be looking where people look at them from if possible. If not looking towards the center of the room. People that appreciate them always check every angle anyway.
I agree mounts with the entire fron t legs dont frame these well. Thats why most full mounts have their front legs up on a rock or something. Maybe stop before the hooves so they dont look stubby. Or have a rock type thing below it to add length.

I hope I don't offend anyone here, but the top one just looks weird to me. The second one looks great, but I think the hooves make it look short and stubby. The last pic, IMO, is great, shows off the chaps, and makes the animal appear as big as they appear in the wild. My $.02.

I’m doing mine as a wall pedestal. Makenzie only has two options for wall pedestal and that is right turn or left turn. Anything different will be custom changing of the manakin. I think a wall pedestal can show the chaps and beard without looking weird.

There are aoudad forms that incorporate the upper legs, and capture the full chaps without going with a half mount.
