Trying to see if anyone is using the Meindl perfekt insoles for mountain hunting. I plan on using them this year in my Lowa tibets. Not much info or feedback on these besides Cabela's website.
I used the ones that came with my Cabelas Meindle boots and they were pretty nice other than not a lot of arch support. The ones I had weren't able to be trimmed either and would in no way fit in my Lowa's.
I put them in my Crispis and I like them alot. Based on all the hype on this forum I purchased some Superfeet before I got the Cabelas Cork insoles and I hated the Superfeet. The arch seemed too far back towards my heal and made it uncomfortable. I have pretty flat get though so that may be part of the problem.
One downside I see to the Cabela's inserts is they are not as easy to get in and out of your boots and I can see if I did it alot I could break the cork eventually. I like to air my insoles out over night when I've worked up a good sweat in my boots but I don't do it as often with those insoles. The cork did a better job getting the moisture away from my feet that most insoles so it hasn't been a problem yet. I got them just after last season so up to this point it's just been quick hiking/scouting trips. I'll see how it goes through this upcoming season but so far I really like them.
Fair warning, they run a full size big so plan accordingly. I read they use UK sizing but whatever the reason I bought size 12 for my 13 boots and they were still almost too big.
I can't say how they would be in another boot but I love them in the Meindls. They take a while to break in but once they do they are better than most of the tennis shoes I own. I also have very high arches so it is nice to have the support under weight.
I have both the Hunter and Hiker model and I like the perfekt foot bed. I find them very comfortable. Not sure how they would fit in other boots though. As stated the cork
can become brittle if removed often from the boot. The other negative I've found is that in cold weather the cork can freeze. After being
stationary for long periods in cold temps, the cork can get so stiff it takes a while till you can bend your foot. A few times I've had them so froze
it was like a 2x4 strapped to my foot. Eventually they thaw when moving again.
They fit my tibets maybe because they are a wide size. I've used them briefly for my turkey hunt in my tibets, but not carrying much weight all day. They worked great, but did take up alot of room in my boots.
The Meindl perfekt cork insoles work great for me. I have long, low volume feet and they take up a decent amount of volume and help me fit many boots I couldn't use before. They are also fairly priced, especially compared to some of the other designer insoles out there.
