I am loading for a 7mm-08 for the first time and using H4350 because its what I have and people seem to do well with it. I am using new Lapua brass and 139gn Interbonds. Hodgdon shows a starting load of 47gn and a max of 50gn. I started at 47 and am already compressing the load a tiny bit. No way I am getting 50gn in the case without really crunching down on the powder. I am thinking of backing down and starting at 46gn. I have no intention of trying to get to max as this is for my wife and she wont shoot past 400 if she shoots well, probably looking more like 300 so something in the 2600-2700 fps range is just fine.

Anyone else using this powder/brass in a 7mm-08? Wondering what your experience is.

remington and lapua brass. All 3 guns shoot very well with this combo.

What weight charge are you using in the Lapua brass? Curious if you are getting upwards of 50gn in them.

Lapua is known for having stout thick brass. This reduces case capacity. I doubt any manuals where using it for 7-08 loads. It's well known it take less powder to reach like velocities using lapua in 308 loads, but it applies across the board.

Yep, I use H4350 with the 162s in one rifle and Varget with the 140s in another.

I have a load of 47.5 gr H4350 under 140 NAB or Partitions @ 2820-2830 fps. It is definitely a full case right to the top of the shoulder using Remington brass. It makes me cringe a little hearing that powder crunch when I'm seating the bullet but I don't have any pressure signs and the accuracy is there.

I also use Speer hot for 145s with the combo. It shoots well. I think it was on the lower end as it was a load for my kids' first year hunting

Similarly different scenario for me and lapua cases.-

In another 308 base cartridge (243AI) I could get no where near what people claimed on the internet and never even could get “book max“ of a 243win.

I know now unless ALL factors are the same, it’s different, start low work your way up.
