Anyone using a tactical bipod?

Hey Roksliders,

I'm Jake, an avid hunter and Oregon based rep for one of this site's sponsors Spartan Precision Equipment. We're launching a new bipod next month called the V2. My question is whether or not this bipod would be useful to this backcountry focused group of hunters and shooters?

The V2 is our first product for tactical shooters, as we've always focused on building the lightest bipods for hunters. Since we're a small company with the ability to make changes, if you let me know your initial thoughts, we could incorporate these ideas into future developments for you.

Looks very interesting. Only comment I would have is that Seems like it weighs 13oz or so. I stopped carrying my Harris bipod due to weight. I shoot off hiking sticks or my pack for a rest most of the time.

You're right, this is designed to be a super robust bipod, still able to hunt, but aimed more at the tactical/long range type rifle. If weight and compactness are a higher priority, check out the Pro Hunt, or lower priced Javelin Lite at 6 ounces

I believe we still offer the Spartan 300. Not sure why it's not displayed on the website right now. I sent a message to our team in England and will get back to you.

It definitely looks like a well built unit for a tac rifle. But more than I'd want on a hunting rig I think. Itd look good on my 6.5 long range rig tho!

I am interested in them, 13oz is pretty similar to the other bipods many hunters are taking into the backcountry such as the Atlas PSR/CAL, Harris and evopods. Actually it is a bit lighter than most. It might be a little heavy for a sheep or goat hunt but for most of us that is the exception not the norm. These look like they have some real potential for the guys looking to push shooting ranges a bit.

I know it attaches to a pic rail but do you have any pictures that more clearly shows the mounting system?

Loolks familiar...lol.. I'm a fan of the offset legs and find them to be very stable, but I feel like it's too heavy to be considered a true hunting bipod, and too light to be a truly robust tactical bipod?
I'd buy one just for poo and giggles because it looks cool. (Assuming all materials, machining,and assembly are 100% USA )

Hi Pbgunrunner! Totally understand, every ounce counts. If you're looking for the lightest weight support out there, the Javelin Lite or Javelin Pro Hunt is what you want to check out. They're less than 6 ounces. The cool thing is that legs are interchangeable between those lightweight bipods and then more tactical focused one like the V2. Once you put an adapter on your rifle, all the mounting points between bipods and tripods are interchangeable.

It's so new that we don't have the picture of the Pic rail adapter that attaches to your rifle just yet. It will be included with the bipod though. If you have one of our tripods or the Davros heads, you can also use the mounting hole on the bottom of the V2 bipod to shoot off those supports while your bipod is mounted to the gun, which is a pretty cool option.

Our products come from Europe. We're working on setting up manufacturing and shipping to the U.S., but haven't got there yet. It's crazy how hard our own country makes it with all the rules and regulations !

Atlas Gen 2 Tall CAL with 2 screw mount is 14.5 oz and costs about $240.

Between the atlas and the tbac bipod, I think this spartan product is going to have a tough go to catch US market share.
