Anyone use Alico boots?

been looking pretty hard at the Alico boots on Sierra Trading post.

anyone have any experience with them? I'm honestly running out of brands to try and these are more affordable then the few left on my list. I'm looking for something reasonably stiff, and the non-goretex option is appealing to me.

The main boot problem I run into is heel fit, the Salomon Quest is the only boot I've found with a good enough heel pocket to keep mine locked in place. The Quest works for most things but I'd rather have something more durable and a smidge stiffer. The Alico Summit is the one I'm looking at the most, looks to have a decent heel pocket and leather lined.

Have a look at Salewa Alp Trainer or Mountain Trainer, nice boots, I have the Alp, thinking seriously about buying the Mountain for this season.

Pretty nicely made. I tried the mountaineering boot - was nice and stiff but swallowed my foot. Large volume didn't work for me. I sent them back and tried and kept the summit's. Good overall boot and look pretty nice. I kept them but mostly wore them around town a time or two. My foot spread out while I owned them and they became too small. Nothing particularly special about these boots though.

I almost tried some. They look great online, but the pair I checked out in the store seemed cheaply made. Thin leather for the upper and I don't think they were spec'ed as a water resistant either.

the summits I'm getting are leather lined with no goretex, a plus in my book but I think they have a few models with a membrane.
Leather quality is something I'm nervous about, I've heard mixed reviews and some pictures do make them look a little cheap. STP tries to market them as $300+ boots for 50% off, but they might actually be $200 only a little bit marked down.

I paid $90 on eBay so I figured I could at least put some more info out there for people if nothing else.
