looking to convert a tikka 22-250 1:8 to 22cm using factory barrel. Looks like the 88eldm "need" a 1:7.

Anyone found otherwise?

The one I built with a 1:8" shoots 77, 80, 85 and 88 grainers just fine.

Take a look at the 22 Creedmoor thread over in the firearms forum. Lots of input on that one.

Between me and a couple buddies we've done close to 12 of these now mostly 1:8 but also 7 and 7.5. 88s it's kind of been a crap shoot which ones shoot them well and which don't.

I havent shot my creed yet - still waiting on brass. But I have shot Berger 85.5s no problem in my 1/8 twist 22 Dasher. Havent run a Hornady heavier than 80gn in a 1/8 barrel, but suspect the 88 will work.

Anything in particular that works best with the 88’s? That’s the only bullet which excites me when I think about the 22 CM.

One of the sevens shoots it incredibly well the other shoots it horribly. Both of the 7.5s shoot it pretty good and about a third of the eight twists shoot it really good and the others are horrendous. Read into that what you will.

It sounds very inconsistent and finicky. Thanks.

1-7.5 twist today with the 88’s.

I don’t think you need a 1:7, my 1:7 shot them good but started blowing them up. I think it’s a good idea to keep an open mind because the 88s are finicky and may not shoot that well regardless of what twist you choose.

FWIW my last barrel 1:8 was stabilizing the 88s at sea level and 50 degrees F. It just didn’t shoot them amazing.

You can shoot the 80s fast enough to offset the BC loss over an 88 to some degree.

The berger 85.5 has shot ridiculously well in everything we've tried it in.

One of the least finicky bullets I’ve come across. I’ve got a 223 Ackley with about 8k though it that doesn’t shoot most things well anymore. Still puts those 85.5s in tiny groups. Started shooting them at around .030 off with the boat tail a little below the neck shoulder junction. Checked them a year or so ago, and they’re out of the case before they get to the lands. Still shoot great.

@Dioni A I've also had poor accuracy with the 88's. Resorted to the 80 ELD-M's, which are fine, but considering the 85.5's for a boost in BC. Have you seen any terminal results from the 85.5's yet?

I'm loading them for a buddy. He's killed 2 deer with it this year. They both dropped not many pictures but here's a small buck his son killed at 650 with it last weekend.
These are entry side.

Looks good to me. The 85.5's match up pretty well at 800 yards with the 88 ELD-M's at 3100 fps, so if they give better accuracy, I'd be really happy. These and some Ramshot Grand are gonna be coming my way.
