On the front range, I’ve seen a few more bucks than normal patrolling, but nothing active in terms of rutting. I think they’re still lifting and taking steroids right now.
Rutting good in Northwest Colorado. Watched bucks acting like teenaged boys this weekend. Does were grouped up and there were one to four bucks dogging every group. Bucks were out during the middle of the day, noses up the tails of the does.
We have does with bucks in western Kansas. Do mule deer 'lockdown' like whitetails? On Sunday I found a buck bedded with one single doe, so close they were nearly touching. Normally I see a mature buck with a harem of does, more like elk.
