Anyone running a Weatherby 307 Alpine CT?

Went to the range for the first time with mine Sunday, 7PRC, Hornady 175 ELD-X Precision Hunter. I want to try some 180 ELD-M and 160CX next.
Very happy with the first outing.
Purchased from Scheels, price matched, great experience. Thank you Nicaburns for your posts and pictures!

I'd like a little more LOP, has anyone taken the recoil pad out? Thinking about 3D printing a longer thicker version.

I picked up mine last week… fit and finish is good with the exception that I had to use a brush to remove cerakote powder from the muzzle and inside the brake in order to install the brake. It was thick enough to prevent threading otherwise.
Bolt is exceptionally smooth and trigger adjusted nicely down to 2#. Mine is 8# on the button with the brake on, Hawkins ultralight rings, and a Trijicon Tenmile 4-24x50. Sadly, work means I won’t get to shoot it until the weekend.
*pic shows it next to a Savage Ultralight in 6.5prc with a stockys VG2
7prc vs 6.5prc, is the 7 nice to shoot. I've been thinking of getting the 6.5 being a little better than my creedmoor, but wondered about the 7. Not sure if it's worth it or not. I don't want to get thumped by the extra recoil and want my wife and kids to eventually shoot the same cartridge confidently. Idaho hunting usually elk and smaller. Have other options if I need to hunt larger.

6.5 PRC is very mild recoil… 7prc to me, is not bad but definitely a step up… below 300wm but not by a ton. Given your description, I’d say 6.5 PRC all day long!

Handled some of these at scheels over the weekend. The action doesn't feel slick by any stretch but it felt a lot better than the mkV next to them. Weatherby really screwed the pooch with the bolt fluting and cerakote on mkV bolts, makes them feel awful.

Mine wasn’t super slick when I got it either. Some good oil and cycling it some and about 150 rds and it feels exponentially better than when I first got it. Not quite tikka good, but it’s very good.

168 gr tipped match kings. 4 shot 100yd group. Seems to be a little more picky than my tikka, but finding a couple loads it likes.

Good shooting there. My buddy has the same rifle and shoots the 170 TA's. Almost all groups we shot had all three rounds touching at 100. Was consistent out to 500 yards as well. Sweet shooting rifle.

I’m gonna try the terminal ascents today
Mine doesn’t shoot the TA well at all but likes just about everything else OK. The Barnes LRX is .48 and I tried the Weatherby 177 hammer hunter today and it was .62… I was kinda hoping it would shoot awful because it is so dang expensive 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️

Anyone else have any input on the Weatherby? About to push the "submit" button on one. Had a CA Ridgeline FFT and ended up not loving it, so now it's between the 307 and a Springfield.

Having had a waypoint 2020, I would absolutely 100% choose the 307! Even though they both use the same barrel, the alpine ct is the better AND lighter rifle for less money. I am still loving mine and am contemplating getting another in a different caliber.

Changed scopes and cleaned the 307 then went to sight back in… only took pics of one target but this shows fouling shot, five shot group, then I over corrected left and put two in the same hole. Didn’t save any other pics but it is shooting sub 3/4” easily from a bag. This is with the Barnes 160gr and it is averaging 3022fps with a 22” barrel. I wish they made this in 6mm creedmoor and I would snag another!
(The shot that widens the 5 shot group was the first shot after the fouling shot)

I'm waiting on one as well (wa waiting period), was intrigued by the features already, then came across one at the local gun shop for a good price so i grabbed it because it felt great. Its in 300prc 1:10, kinda would have thought it would have been a little faster twist but ? Going to try the g2 vx6 on it. Ill report back......
I’m really interested to hear your thoughts on this gun. I’ve been seriously considering getting one in 300 wby. Is the recoil with the break pretty manageable?

I have about 500 rounds through mine it’s a 7prc this is my first weatherby and I am pretty happy with it threw a Zeiss v4 on it and a suppressor with a mdt bipod weight is 10 pounds 8 oz and have taken it out to 1000 yards this was my first time shooting that far, overall I’m happy with it.
