Anyone running 6x fixed scopes for most hunting?

I've run a 4X for years and it is one of my favorites. Switching to 6X for big game this year...as soon as my SWFA arrives. I'm sure I'll miss the details of a variable dialed up to 10X a bit, but as far as hitting the target out to 600 I am optimistic, based on all the reports from those far more knowledgeable and experienced with fixed than I am.

I am a fan of the fixed power scopes. Have a 6x leupy, 4x leupy, a 4x weaver, 2 12x swfa and a USO ST10. For hunting rifles, i think the 4x weaver is best for where i hunt (northwoods of wisconsin).

I’ve done 95% of my big game hunting the last 15 years with a M8 6-36 that I paid $100 for. I shot a moose with it this year at probably 20’. He was already hit and was mostly concealed by tree branches. No big deal. And I’ve killed elk out to 400.
The 6s are nice all around scopes. I like a no fiddle scope.

I just put a Leupold 6x42 on a Tikka .270. I had a 3-9x40mm Zeiss Conquest on a Tikka 30-06 that I sold to a buddy, but so far I don't miss the zoom on this new setup. So far I've only shot it to 200 yards, but it's great. Very pleased with it. I will have to see if shooting an animal with it changes my perspective, but I doubt it will.

I’ve got a couple of fixed 6X Leupolds. I’ve killed a bunch of game with them. The FX3 6x42 is a bombproof optic that will do 99% of what I need a hunting scope to do.

I think you'll be even more pleased on an animal vs. a target.

The vitals of deer and elk are much bigger than the itty bitty groups we try to shoot at the range.

Got a buddy that swears by the 6-fixy on a SWFA. He'd never tell you anything that was his idea he didn't like, but I will give him credit, it seems like a good setup. Less things to fail, less thinking, etc.

Not sure I would go that route myself, but I can certainly see the advantages
