I have a m77 .257 bob that I'm thinking about have AI'd. 1-10" twist. Would like to run eldx or maybe Berger's for whitetails. Anyone else running .257s out to 750 or more?
I think the heaviest I can go with hammers in the 93gr with my twist. I need to run the numbers on it and see where my velocity would get questionable. My next build will be a fast twist in .257, planning to shoot the blackjack 131gr bullets and some hammer bullets as well for a long range build.
I've I get it AI'd I think I can get the 100 smks to 3200 or so. I've shot great groups with them before. Wind will could be more of an issue though.I used to shoot 115 Bergers and 100 SMK out of my 25 WSSM. At the time I shot it on paper out to 1k and deer to 600, wouldn't hesitate to do it again. The 131 ACE is what 25 cals were born to be, but you'll need a 7 twist barrel for them.

Ackleys are just cool though!Considering a 75 ELD out of a 223 would buck the wind better, I'd save yourself the hassle of putting money into a modest sized 10 twist quarter bore for long range.
Should AI the .250 savage, that would be a cool freakin wildcat. I still think I'm going to ai my 257 bob. Should be able to run Hornady eldx's with that twist. Burn that barrel and I'll do another route. How about a fast twist 250-3000? Side by side with a creedmore you can hardly tell the difference... I like the 250 Bob as well...
