Anyone put anything on their Iron Will broadheads ??

I have put olive oil and rem oil in the arrow slots of my quiver so it sorta redcoats the heads . I use a 2 blade leather quiver from Eagles flight archery and the olive oil helps preserve the leather like I would use on a leather saddle. I'm sure putting a little oil inside a tight spot hood would not cause any issues.

The only thing is, the oil and wax’s attract dust and that also gets pushed up into the slots of the quiver, if you have a foam insert in your hood.

I have the 2 blade leather hood from Eagles flight archery for a longbow. So I can clean it, you make a good point if it were foam i could see dirt problems for sure.

Not Iron Wills, but I shot Zwickey heads for many years a long time ago. After sharpening, I would "saw" the edge into a block of paraffin wax or a candle, then use my fingers to wipe off any excess. Paraffin kept them from rusting, had no odor and didn't attract excessive dust or grit like oil would.

Know this thread is old. But several of my IW have never been out of the protective pelican case. And two of them have corrosion.

Were you expecting the pelican case to keep them from corrosion? Just being exposed to air will cause native oxides (rust) to form over time. The pelican case would have to be nitrogen purged/pressurized to prevent any oxidation.

Chap stick, they need something or yes they will rust. I say chap stick, because it works and I always have some in my pack. Very easy to carry with you.

Yes I use Ren wax. Its a carry over from what I use on my nice damascus knives. Works well on the Iron wills as well. Also use birchwood casey barricade sometimes.

Mine got rust spots this year too, I just ordered some of the Renaissance wax polish. Will that stuff buff out the rust spots or do I need to hit them all with some steel wool first?

I carry Vaseline impregnated cotton balls as fire starter in my pack. I use these double duty to wipe any carbon steel edged items (knives, broadheads, etc).
