I’ve hunted in solids only, now for several years. Bow hunting I’ve put down several whitetail still hunting, and 2 yotes. I don’t feel like I’ve lost any edge hunting in solids over camo. Turkeys have great eye sight, but it really comes down to movement. A turkey will bust you camo or not with movement. Typically why you should have your gun shouldered before they come into range.

I like camo hunting clothes over solids because the camo doesn't show sweat and blood stains. I have a mix of both.
Camo matters more on the internet more than the field.

If you're using a gun you can get away with blaze orange:cool:

But I have yet to find a way to draw a bow, let alone a tradbow without moving

Camo is for you not the animals. I hunt in mix and match solids and camo and my clothing doesn’t get me busted. Movement and silhouetted is what gets me busted. I wear mostly earth tone solids. Drab browns and greens work great for me. I avoid solid black or white as that’s what I often see when looking for animals. White and black pop out for me so project that on the animals and assume they pick up solid black and white like me.

I think it has a lot to do with the animals. Here back east deer get a lot of hunting pressure and the smart ones learn quickly to associate humans on foot in the woods as danger. They also look up quite a bit at tree stand height due to the slightest noise. When I have been busted bow hunting by noise or movement, I feel like the times I was wearing camo, it was hard for the deer to tell what I was and they have not blown out immediately.

I killed one with a 1990 Ford Ranger once. It was solid black.
I think if you are out west or moving you can get away with solids because you can position yourself better or have greater range.
If stand hunting during archery you are kind of stuck so a little camo helps when they’re looking right at you not to get busted.

Solids here. This one was at 10-30 yards with 5 other bucks for an hour before I shot. I was in a 14’ tripod against a tree. No cover in front of me, between me and the deer.
(I was wearing a solid green long sleeve pullover with the same pants. And yes, I was wearing the hat in the picture.)

I buy a lot of my camo with the same mindset - can I wear it during my home/professional life:cool:

I'm a software engineer & usually look like the biggest gomer redneck any of these techies has ever seen. Wearing a Kings Camo quarter zip t-shirt as I type this from my desk.

I hunt in solid orange on my upper body whenever I'm hunting in a state that requires orange.

I've had deer look right at me when I was standing in front of a tree, then go back to grazing. Standing still seems to be more important than blending in.

I like to wear camo tops. I am pretty well geeked out on the predator deception patterns, so I'll be buying a lot of that soon. I have been hunting in some "bison" colored wrangler hikers, and I love them. Haven't had much of an issue with whitetail and pigs, so I would hope it wouldn't spook elk or other big game.

Lol, I feel ya. I’m just referring to, even the little bit of movement it takes bringing your gun to your shoulder gets people busted all the time turkey hunting, even with camo. It’d be tough I’m sure taking down a gobbler with a bow without some kind of cover (blind, brush, etc). I’ve never been very successful turkey hunting with a bow. Had to chase one down like 50 yards years ago due to a bad shot, from a blind. It’s hard to hit the kill spot when their all puffed up struttin, for me anyway.

I do quite a bit - i still bowhunt with camo tops and a gaiter, but I just wear solid grey or tan kuiu or mud color prana pants all of the time. I’ve had elk inside of 20 a couple times these past 2 years and haven’t had an issue with solid color pants.

I just wear whatever I want that is comfortable, sometimes solids, sometimes camo, doesn't really matter much to me and I am certain that camo has nothing to do with success.
