Anyone heard of Oregon Mountain Rifle company?

I ran across this company making carbon wrapped button rifled barrels and I would like to hear if anyone has any experience with their barrels. They have a Black Friday sale going that would make a carbon wrapped blank $460. It’s very tempting, but is it worth it in the end?

They turned down and carbon wrapped my Ruger .270wsm and added a brake.
That’s a 4 shot 100yd group with Hornady Precision Hunter

I talked to them last week also wanting them to do a carbon barrel for me. Super nice guy I’m not sure if I will go with them tho he couldn’t tell me who’s barrels they use so the can do there wrap. Not a huge deal since he said they will back it if it don’t shoot but I would just like to know what they are using

I messaged him via Facebook myself a couple days ago & had many of the same questions. Very nice guy, took his time & answered all of my questions. Also nice to know someone has first hand knowledge of their product & it shot well. You cant complain with that target using factory ammo, definitely gave me something to think about.

I am currently deciding whether to buy a Fierce carbon fury or source a used/new Tikka stainless magnum to send to them for their Tikka "upgrade" package in 7mm Rem mag. Total investment is only a couple hundred difference in the end

Im interested in any opinions given on which way
you guys would go...Sako clone vs Tikka action (Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread)

How did it shoot before?

I am considering sending my Kimber to Oregunsmithing for a rebarrel to a HCA barrel. The wrap this OMR does is interesting.

My main question is how would just a wrap help accuracy since it is still the same barrel? My first thought is that it would be more rigid maybe? This is probably quite applicable to a thin Kimber barrel.

I’m guessing that if the barrel currently shoots good but starts stringing shots after a couple then the wrapping would help, but If it doesn’t shoot worth a crap, wrapping it would be a waste of money.

I saw the factory upgrade package, i started reading and stopped at the first sentence because it said “we will install a Carbon wrapped barrel.” I assumed it was one of their barrels. I just read further and saw it said that they would wrap your factory barrel.

Muley & Tim,
It was a 1-1.25moa gun prior. As mentioned, it would open up with faster interval shooting. Not sure if it is just the wrap, the lessened jump from the added brake, or better reassembly once it was all finished, but it is far better than it was, and turnaround was around 2 weeks.

They can turn down your existing barrel.
Build a barrel from one of their blanks.
Or you can buy a prefit.

I won’t complain about price either. I actually won it in a drawing. My hunting partner has since purchased a prefit as well.

I just dropped off my Sako finnlight 300wsm with OMR. Having the barrel turned down and wrapped. Expected back in less than 2 weeks. I will post some photos after I get it back and have had chance to shoot it.

Keep us posted. I’m strongly considering sending them my Kimber.

Did you document some groups to compare to once you get it back?

Just got my 300wsm back from OMR. Had it done in less than 1 week. This gun has always shot extremely well until I tried to hang a suppressor off the end. It started to open up after multiple rounds so I wanted to stiffen up the barrel to hopefully be able to shoot it suppressed with the same consistency/grouping. The first photo is before they turned my barrel down and Carbon wrapped. Its not the best photo but only one I had. I would say that if it shoots as good as it looks OMR will be building me one of there customs next. I’ll post photos after I get out and shoot later this week.
