Anyone have experience with a 20 inch 300wm?

A 20" 300 win mag, interesting. I would like to really see some data on "factory loads" using one of these. Would I have to run a can on it?

OP, the wife, DBevans, "The lady wants a shorter rifle after having hike through willows on our moose hunts." Is it for hiking? Have you thought of a XLR magnesium chassis with a folding stock?

Mostly walking through willows but was planning on the Hnt26

I’ll post some velocities in a month or so when it’s all set up. -30F outside rn so might be 2 months.

Looking forward to seeing it, and the data. That hnt26 is nice, too. There is nothing wrong with that one. I've just seen the xlr, because Bergara had that on a complete gun. I haven't looked at all their stocks.

Tikka superlite 300wm for a lady? I hope she's mean. Felt recoil from a Tikka is more than most popular rifles

Going to chop, thread, and put a muzzle brake. Shes shooting a 7mag super light now. She’s pretty tough though

Thank you? Apa self timing micro, I have one on a 300wsm and it’s very pleasant to shoot

Very effective brake. I've got one myself. Let us know what you think after some range time

Finally sighted in and brought a few boxes of ammo to chrono but it likes barnes 150 grain so much I only shot that. 3130 at the muzzle in a 20 inch tikka roughtech super lite.

Also curious on velocities and which suppressor that is! I'm having a stock Tikka .300WM cut to 18" with the intent to put a TBAC Magnus S RR on it.

I have not chro. It yet. The suppressor is a Dead Air Nomad Ti. with an e-brake.

If my 16” 300 wsm can get 178s at 2850 fps you’ll be atleast that with more powder and 12% more barrel to work with.

Looking for experience on a 20 inch 300. The lady wants a shorter rifle after having hike through willows on our moose hunts. Most shots will be under 500 yards. The last 2 years she got 2 bull moose at 350 yards with her 7 mag.

CVA Cascade comes in a 20” threaded 300 WM. I’m thinking of getting one, but don’t really need it. I have a 270 and 6.5 PRC Weatherbys that were both 24” and had them cut and threaded at 20”. About 100 fps loss on both. Never plan on taking shots past 400 yards. My main rifle right now is a 7 PRC Browning Speed SR 20”. Barnes LRX 160 for extended range hunting, and Federal Fusion Tipped 175 for everything else. Haven’t found a Federal Fusion in any caliber that doesn’t group well, perform, and retain weight.
