Looking to get a freestanding tent for deer hunting some wilderness areas around home here.
Dont want to go floorless just because of the bugs etc here.
The Nemo Hornet and Dragonfly have peaked my interest due to size and weight.
But thought I would ask you all for some opinions.

I have a Nemo Hornet Elite, I'm a fan of the tent, but I find it a little small to have all my gear+bow inside with me. I'm also 6'3", and the headroom isn't spectacular. I use it mostly for backpack scouting trips where I am not bringing a weapon or when I'm really trying to shave ounces backpack hunting. I have a Big Agnes Tiger Wall 3 Platinum that is usually my go-to tent during hunting season. Better headroom and more floor space. That generally gets used to set up a spike camp that I'll hunt from.

I have used the Nemo Dragonfly for the better part of the last 5 years. At 6ft tall, I found the headspace adequate. I keep most of my gear in the vestibule. The 2p is a good size for one bigger dude. I have ran 2 people in it, but that shit sucks. Don't recommend.

Its been through more weather than I care to recall and I haven't had any issues. I like the Dragonfly over the Hornet because material durability.

I’ve put multiple trips over the last few years on the hornet 2p. It’s small, like a 1.5p, but it’s just me and some gear. The rest stays out in the vestibule or outside. I’m 6’2” and I sleep diagonal, but it totally works. And I’m only in the tent to sleep. Been in some weather, and it’s been fine to pass a storm, but ideally you’re not hanging out in there. And it’s light for what it is. Less than 2.5# all in.

I have used a couple of Nemo tents. Neither are true backpacking models but they have been great. I had a Galaxi 2P that I used for a full season of field work, basically lived in it for 4 months, and it was fantastic. Recently bought a bigger 6P for truck based camping with the family and it is fantastic.

Material quality is good, setup is easy and I’ve never had one leak or collapse in the wind.

I’m in the market for a backpacking tent and Nemo is on the top of my list if I go with a traditional style tent over a Tipi style.

I had a dragonfly 1p and it was great. The vestibule was plenty large for my gear to stay dry and the tent roomy enough for me. I sold it when my son started coming with me and I needed more room.

I love my hornet 2p. Its not huge but totally fine with some gear inside snd some in the vestibule. I almost never pack the heavier copper spur.
