I also used a 235AP for the last two seasons. It works well and is a good option for what you get in contrast to how much you spend. My two biggest complaints are that Its too short for standing/glassing (my particular model) which is the reason I bought a new tripod this year and that it is on the heavy side. I have a hunting buddy that uses a much older Vanguard without any complaints other than weight. Neither one of our vanguards are carbon fiber and that might be a good option if you are considering one. I wouldn't be afraid to try one if you are considering it.
