Looking to pick up a new handgun in the next week or two. Was looking at the FNH FNS-9 Compact. I'm still waiting on the permit to come in and, I haven't made it to the dealer to look around. Was talking with a friend who thought that particular model was for Military / Law Enforcement / First Responders only. I did some research but, I felt like I wasnt finding a clear answer. Does anyone happen to know anything about this particular model handgun and, if it's available for sale to any average buyer?

Is this it? Looks like must be LE.

Yea that's the one. I've honestly just started buying handguns within the last couple years and I have alot to learn. Some sites were stating that and, some not, so it had me wondering. I appreciate the response.

I have the full size FNS-9, and really like it. It was not a LEO only, so I can’t imagine the compact is, unless it is state specific.

Not the FNS-9, but I have the FNX-45 Tactical and I really like it. Between the vertical grip angle and low bore axis it holds and shoots really nicely, if I was going to pick up a 9mm the FNS-9 is very likely where I'd go.

I'm definitely gonna end up with a FN anyway I go. I've been looking at the FNX-45 as well. My buddy just picked up a 509, I'd like a 509 compact if not the FNS.

Well, I will say the FNX is weird - accessories/parts can be a little hard to find in comparison to more common makes, but the performance makes it worth it in my mind. When I'm hunting I run an upgraded spring and 45 super which is a nice performance bump, then at the range I can run switch back and run cheap reloads for practice.

I have one, been using it as my daily winter/fall carry for couple years. Its soild, feeds everything and anything. Trigger is about as nice as your going to find on a factory gun at this this price. I made no changes to anything on it except putting a talon grip on it. It barks a little with 147 plus P but its mild with any 115s you run through it. I cleaned it once after the first 100 round or so i put through it and i havent cleaned it since, probably have another 500 or though it. No plans to clean it either..
My one pet peeve was i ordered iy without a safety, and when i picked it up..it was with a safety. So pretend there isnt one.
Its a sweet little handgun
