anyone ever use trip (hunting) insurance?

I got quoted 10% of hunt cost once and declined to go further. Maybe you can get away with just getting insurance on deposit value?

Read the fine print. Most will not cover anywhere near as much as what you think. I bought what Alaska Airlines offered once then read the policy, it sucked.

Any updates or new experiences here?
Last year I bought a Travel Guard insurance policy for my guided Idaho backcountry elk hunt. I bought it 1 month before the trip because fires were raging throughout the forest. USFS closed trails and outfitter cancelled trip. I did get a cash payout for 100% of outfitter fee from Travel Guard.

Which plan did you have? They list 3 separate plans varying in price and coverage. All seem to have 100% coverage for cancellation

I ended up getting Travel Guard as well. Covers the basics and seems to have good reviews.

I got a “Standard Package”. I didn’t have time to study the plan options because I was getting ready to board a bush plane to the AK north slope for a caribou hunt. I actually purchased my plan moments after the plane took off, but while I still had cellular reception. A very close call.

I've purchased it for trips but haven't ever thought of getting it for a hunt. I think a remote hunt would be well worth it for the medical costs alone. Thanks for posing the question. Peace of mind alone makes it worth having.
