Has anyone else has an issue with the SWFA SS 3-15 gen 2 turret zero stop getting stuck? I ordered one and got it in the mail today and when I switched to the uncapped vertical turret and turned it to the zero stop it got stuck. I hand tightened it just to see how sold the zero stop was. When I try to dial the scope the whole turret turned out of the scope body. If this happened I am not sure if I can trust this scope in the field. The obvious concern is if it gets stuck in the field I won’t be able to dial. My other concern is that the turret came out of the scope body when I was trying to remedy the problem, did I loose my nitrogen purge?

I called SWFA and they said they never heard of anything like this happening. I am going to send it back but if this has happened to other people I may just ask for my money back and buy from a different company. I acknowledge that this may be user error but I still wouldn’t expect this to happen.

. Every manufacture sends out a dud sometimes. If their customer service treats you right not every manufacturer can say that. Im interested to hear how well they respond
Yep.
Nobody wants to be the guy who gets the one dud, but a maker who sends out very few duds and handles it well when it happens, can't be faulted.

Mine has been fine. One of the first things I did when I received it was crank each knob to its extremes and back a few times.

I have seen turrets unscrew in other brands too.

Just wanted to give an update. Customer service took care of me. I sent the scope back and they confirmed that the turret had unscrewed from the scope body. They said they couldn’t fix it and sent me a new one.

I am still a little weary about this scope design/dependability because I feel like if I dial the scope to hard against the zero stop it could happen again.

Just seen this, I'l have to check mine now. Dialed it last October during my cow hunt no issues.

Just wanted to jump in here. I'm a huge SWFA Fanboy. Have been since I learned about them in the early 2000s. At last count I have 6 of their scopes and at one point had double that. This past fall while hunting with a 3-15 the parallax knob broke and would spin freely without changing focus. I was extremely bummed and kind of felt like I was getting a karmic slap because I had just been extolling their virtues non-stop to a couple of friends who were in the market for new glass. It also ruined a hunt at the end of the season where I could have harvested at least one and probably multiple whitetail doe that I wanted for the freezer.

It really shook my confidence in the whole company for a day or two. But their warranty was seamless, took only a few days and they sent me out a brand new one. Over two decades and dozens of Scopes and that's the only major issue I've ever had, so I guess I agree with everyone who says that every company except for the absolute tip of the sword is going to send out a dud every once in awhile.

The lesson I learned was this was a new scope to me, and I should have run it harder before taking it to the field. I basically slapped it on the gun, went to the range, zeroed it and then took it hunting. I could have found this problem if I had run it just a few more times

Don’t worry, every scope can break. And good on SWFA for taking care of it for you.

I broke one of my nightforces at the parallax knob. Lost the gas seal, and shredded the illumination wires. NF took care of it just like SWFA did for you.

You’ve got a proven durable scope that had a defect, and has since been replaced. No need to doubt or second guess this particular gear choice. Just get out and stress test your gear with lots of rounds.
