I've carried that setup for I think four elk now and haven't used it once, probably leave it behind this fall. One elk died on a steep meadow 20' from the nearest tree, another in a clearcut, and the other two were in pine/fir forest. Big ponderosas with no limbs until 50+ feet up, or firs thick with weak, sloping branches.
