Any body going to use the Rage Hypodermic as their broadhead this year? Anybody have any experience with them yet? These look like a really sweet broadhead, just want to see what others think.

Thanks

Frank

I have always shot fixed blade for the most part but will be using the Rage Hypodermics this year. They fly great, can't wait for elk season now

Ill be trying them for whitetail, but not for elk. Sticking with the Shuttle T's there. The hypodermics look sweet and from my experience Rage are deadly on whitetail.

I was thinking more about the diy animated vids we had on here. Now I've got to go find them.

I am thinking about Coyote Commander's "Rage in the cage" post under archery. I'm link illiterate or I would link it. It's way too funny !

[SUP][/SUP]I killed a turkey with one this spring. Quite impressive. They fly true from my bow and arrow rig.

I will, I have killed a handful of animals with Rage over the last few years, I am a big fan. I have not tried the hypos yet but I've shot just about every other rage out there.

They seem to be a huge improvement from the old model. There was a bad penetration issue for me with the old Rage. I bought some Hypodermics to try out and so far I am pleased. They fly well, have a much improved one piece ferrule, and a big cutting surface. I shot a Black Bear in Canada last month and it tore him up pretty good. Didnt hit shoulder or any big bones on the way through, so I am still unsure of how well it will preform on bone. I will be shooting them on velvet muleys this year for sure.

Dad and I both will be shooting a trimmed down version for elk this year. I trimmed the blades down to 1 1/2" cut. I tested them this past weekend and results were very good (greatly improved over the old version). I shot them side by side with a cut on contact head that I had through a piece of 5/8" plywood. The Rage Hypodermic blew through up to the fletching and had no damage at all. The cut on contact head only made it through to the end of the ferrule. We will be using the 2" cut blades for deer.

I haven't fingered any yet but the swept angle of the blades seems more severe than the regulars which would IMO limit penetration. I shoot the 1.75" crossbow heads now and dig 'em.

Anyone still trying these? I have never been a rage fan, mainly due to their cheap construction. However these things look pretty robust compared to a lot of other expandables out there now.

I want an expandable in D6 to use for mulies on the plains where the wind is always whipping this November. I think these might get a try for whitetail and mulies this year.

I used some of the original Rage 3 blade 1.5" heads 2-3 years ago and got tired of how tedious it was to switch blades and rage never gave you the right size allen and used different screws all the time. The Hypodermics look like a big improvement, however I feel with the Ulmer edge also being an option it is superior in a few areas, more streamlined in flight/less surface area, single bevel 1.5" blades for increased penetration, pivoting blades, practice with the heads you will hunt then remove one easy screw and kill, one screw to remove and change blades. Overall I'm sure the Hypodermics will perform well but I like a 1.5" head better and have no reason to try them with the Ulmer Edge also being available with the added benefits I listed above.

Just picked some up yesterday, will be sending them on the end of some BE Carnivores in just a few weeks for Eastern deer. Will post results as soon as I get to try them out on flesh

Switched to the ulmer edge this year too. The rage 2 blades have never let me down, knocked down half a dozen big mulies in devastating fashion, but the ulmer edges seem to have a slightly better design in a few ways. They also shoot a marginally better group. I guess this season will be the true test.
