Anybody Else Having Failure to Feed with Tikka mags?

For those interested in the ascension mags

I load 75 gr ELDM really looong so factory mags don’t cut it. Ascension are all use now having tried (and sent back) Mountain Tactical. They replaced the defective mags after a 2 year wait, and Ascension was available, so I sold the MT as well. I also tried Waters, they functioned well but cost their weight in cocaine. After I got the Ascension I sold the Waters, too.

No dog in the fight with Ascension but they’re all I use now. Never had an issue with the 4 round factory mags when I shot standard length cartridges.

The mag in the top picture isn’t a 223 magazine

This. Someone in Finland messed up.

Under what circumstances are they failing?

I’ve yet to have a failure with any of my OEM magazines in .223 or 6.5 CM.

The only magazine that has been bad for me is the MT one.
When you slide the bolt forward the mag doesn't lift a round up high enough on the back for the bolt to catch and chamber it. Maybe you haven't had this issue but it's a very commonly known issue experienced by many on here. Seems to be more common with mags made in recent years. I agree, it's silly that Tikka hasn't addressed this and the only real solution is expensive after market mags.

I've had terrible luck with tikka 223 mags. They aren't consistent sometimes they work and sometimes they fail to feed on round two other times it's round three.
I bought a couple momba mags but don't like the 10 round length. They always feed the round though.

Also the tikka prc mags suck

The Waters magazines have much better dimensions than the Mambamags. And they have both have been flawless for me.

.223 rounds will not pop up to be shucked out by the bolt. I have 3 factory 4 round mags all the same. They latch up in the bottom metal no problem. Factory stock torqued correctly no mods. Not my first rodeo with tuning mags either. There is no way I take this rifle to the bear woods. I have M+ mags for Creedmoor/.308 family no problems at all. If this is the way it has to be with T3x .223 it’s going back to Beretta USA in little pieces.

This is exactly my situation.

Exactly. Where are our Rokslide Tikka shills? I’m pissed.

Adam makes a great product. I think I have 3 of his mags

How many of you are complaining?
Should get a list of names or something and send to tikka.
Maybe having to warranty mags or do service work of a shit ton of rifles they may do something.
Really a great gun is worthless if the mags are shit in the moment of truth.

I’ve emailed. You are exactly right. They blame it on their spring supplier. Typical European response in my experience with many of the products produced over there.

I’m kinda like Form in this regard. It can be the most accurate, best looking, nicest carrying, best thing going. If it won’t function in normal field use it’s worthless.

Can’t or I would. The downside to Ascension mags is no spring, so I had to swap.

Thanks. Yeah I’ve got 3 donors lol. Looking forward to the day I can take my $1000 LH Tikka to the woods with my new 3D printed mag (I shouldn’t have to buy) and not think about if it’s gonna pick up the next round out of the junk factory one.

Anyone there Mr Sako?

Well as of now I’m rethinking my build.
I guess I missed this shit.
No sure why they get all the hype if you can’t count on them unless it’s for practice.

All I can figure is folks lean their baby in the safe, single feed everything, or just accept that it feeds correctly about 50% of the time but it’s ok because all the cool kids have them.

Dang, Just found this thread today. Picking up my recently purchased Tikka .223 tomorrow and I'll hope for a good outcome on magazine feeding.

I had no trouble with factory 4 rnds, Waters or Mamba through ~700rds at S2H but exactly as described with factory 6rds. Mountain Tactical was also not reliable at all. borrowed a 10rnd Mambamag (thanks Chris!) and it ran 100% as has the waters I picked up on the group buy. yes sucks balls to not trust the OEM mags and resort to uber pricey, and/or thick as a brick aftermarket mags...that said the 4rnd OEM that came with my used gun has also been 100% and fits the bill for field use.
