Well, I'm looking to get something shorter that can be used for other stuff where I'm not gonna be hauling anything heavy, avoiding the frame from sticking up above my head, etcIs the exo k4 exs not small enough? You may be able to cut down the k4 22”, its worth a call to exo. What is your actual torso size?
Hello!
Well I've been scouring the internet trying to find a pack frame that I can get in something smaller than 22"s and am hoping to find something that compares to Kifaru, Stone Glacier, Exo, etc..
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I don't think those two go together. Frame hight enables comfortable load hauling.Well, I'm looking to get something shorter that can be used for other stuff where I'm not gonna be hauling anything heavy, avoiding the frame from sticking up above my head, etc
I understand what your saying, but I already have several packs for hauling heavy loads. This is simply something that I want to utilize for a specific purpose, not big game hunting or heavy hauling. Just simply looking to see if there is even a frame out there that is potentially shorter than 22"s without modifications.I don't think those two go together. If I needed one pack both to haul heave and use for light things, I would optimize the frame for hauling heavy. Then down the road try to add a pack for when I didn't need to carry heavy.
The purpose would help, you listed load hauling brands. Lots of smaller framed packs geared towards hiking that are adequate if not hauling heavy.I understand what your saying, but I already have several packs for hauling heavy loads. I understand that I listed those brands. As stated in my first post, I've scoured the Internet and am not finding the type of pack frame I'm wanting, which is why I listed those brands. Thanks, I think I've located a belt and strap system that will work for what I'm wanting to create. The reason for the vaugenss is that I'm wanting to build something that could potentially be used in the outdoors and if it doesn't go anywhere, oh well! But I've got a vision in my head and I want to build it. While I completely understand the reason for the frames build and purpose that I listed, there are components that make up those that are all part of what I'm looking at incorporating. As detailed as that description is Im not sure I understand what you want. Any pack with a good hip belt and lumbar pad is made to carry weight. Any pack designed to carry weight has padded shoulder straps and stays that protrude above your shoulders. It just doesnt carry weight well otherwise. The only pack I am aware of that is made to carry weight but doesnt have stays protruding above shoulders is a MR pop-up, simply because the “stays” can be collapsed specifically to make it lower profile for when you dont need them. If you arent looking for a pack made to carry weight, they dont generally have frames like that because the frame isnt needed.
I think if we’re missing what you’re looking for a description of what you want to do with it might help. It might not exist.
Just checked out crossfire packs, thank you! Most tactical backpacks have really short stubby frames. I think crossfire comes pretty highly recommended in the tactical world but again you are giving up some thing in terms of load hauling in exchange for the headroom. The mystery ranch nice frame and other alice/molle pack adjacent frames are probably short too.
The shapecharge by Kifaru isn’t a frame pack, but it’s a rigid system with a belt and molle attachments. Very comfortable. My favorite “day” pack they make. I can’t think of any “frame” packs that would fit the criteria.I understand that I listed those brands. Looking for a frame with molle webbing, good hip belt and lumbar pad, with multiple molle webbing anchor spots through out to attach to. Not looking for padded shoulder straps or very lightly padded. This would give me something to work off of for what I'm wanting to utilize it for.
Is that the back length or stay length? The packs the op mentioned are for 18-21”ish back lengths, with the difference to 25-26” being the stays protruding above the shoulders for load lifter straps, etc.Western Edge Gear may have what you are looking for. We have 18" and 20" frames.
18-21ish back lengths would be great! As far as load lifters go, I don't think I'd need them for the setup. Is that the back length or stay length? Thats what Im saying—the exo, etc packs with stays protruding above your shoulders ARE 18-21” back length. Stay length is not the same as back length. Back length is usually measured from your ilaic crest to your c7 vertebra, and 18-21” is a typical adult back length. On a big weight carrying pack the stays that fit for a 20” back length will be 25-26” long. Thats why I asked the clarifying question.18-21ish back lengths would be great! I checked out your website and it looks like what you have will probably work, I'll reach out to you to chat.Western Edge Gear may have what you are looking for. We have 18" and 20" frames.
Well, I couldn't think of what the load lifters or stays were called originally. So my bad for not being as clear for everyone. So yes, I don't want stays or load lifters protruding way up like they do on my other packs that are built for heavy hauling. This thing may see 10-15 lbs max and I'd think that would be a heavy load for it.Thats what Im saying—the exo, etc packs with stays protruding above your shoulders ARE 18-21” back length.
