I love chasing roosters. I spend a lot of time in South Dakota. Not much better than spending a fall day with your dog in the field!

I try to be but we don't have many public land birds in Oregon. Been planning on making a ND or SD trip one of these years when numbers are back up.

Love chasing Pheasants! I get out to ND for a week every fall. We get in a little Duck and Goose action as well.

Last I heard they were all dead in ND and SD! I grew up in southcentral ND in the glory days and used to love it. Usually shot at least one or two just in the ditches driving to or from school. Back before upper Oahe filled back up, when CRP was still paying its way, and before the farmers drained and planted all the wetlands. More people would come home for pheasant opener than Christmas or Thanksgiving. Only pulled off one 100-bird year and that was 2010.

Thanks for sharing the all the pics. Someday I'll make it back during the season and get a few.

Once I bought a dog it was game on for me. I liked shooting Roosters in the past but having a dog brings it to a whole new level!

Yep. Pheasants, but also Quail, Prairie Chickens, and Sharptails. All over Nebraska. Some private ground, but mostly on public. Once you've hunted with a decent dog you can't go back.
