I told the wife that a gordon will be my next dog. I have always had labs and mine is gonna be 7 next month. You got a recommendation on a decent line?

Great thread and pics.Wish I had seen it earlier.Old time pheasant hunter here-going back to the Soil Bank days before most were born.100 bird years common.

Brutal winter here this year but it all still hinges on nesting.

Im really jealous of all the picturesque places you guys get to hunt birds. I hunt a 5 acre chest high weed patch between two irragated corn circles here in the Texas panhandle. Its not pretty and I dont think a dog could walk through it but we kill a ton of birds off it. Pheasent is the one animal I would rather eat than hunt.

Love chasing pheasants here in Iowa with my shorthair. Kids have cut into time spent in the field but every time is a joy watching the dog work. Someday hopefully the kids will be chasing the ditch chickens with me.

Yes, I miss it. 10+ years ago it was a hoot stepping into a field exploding with hundreds, maybe thousands of roosters. Those were the days. I hope they rebound some day to close to the numbers.

Not a lot of wild roosters in Ohio but we did manage to get three between my neighbor and I last fall.
