the last ground hog i shot was in holmes county ohio just before i got transferred.
we were talking to the farmer in his yard and he says theres one and pointed. we flipped for it and i asked sam what he thought the range was and we agreed on 450 yd. so i spun the dial on my 243AI and laid down in the yard and dropped it. the farmer was dually impressed. i got to strut and we got to hunt.
those are 30x orions. you can set behind them for hours and not get eye strain. you can also count the ticks on a ground hogs ear at 600yd.
the only problem is you need a 22 lb tripod to hold them steady. they quit making 30x after Ryan bought those so i got a pair of 25x which are bigger and work just as well. later we found a used pair of 30s and bought them so each of us has a pair now. the 30s needed some work like rotted eye rubber and they respired them for peanuts - restored them to new.
