Looking at an elk hunt this fall in Colorado most likely. Don’t mind going solo, but tossing up the idea of going two man and if you’re a cop like myself that’d be even better! Hauling one out solo would be brutal. Plan on either archery or muzzy hunt. DM me!
 
Elk really aren't that hard to haul out if you leave the carcass. I'm not trying to imply that you don't know about the gutless method but if you don't know about it, here it is:


I learned about this method before my first moose hunt and it was extremely helpful for packing out my moose, and every elk since learning about this method. It's a game changer. There are several videos that walk you through the method available online if you type in gutless field dressing. I'm trying to be helpful.
 
I’ve packed out every elk I’ve ever killed solo and I’ll agree that hauling one is brutal and 99% of solo elk hunters should not kill one more than 1-2 miles from the truck.
