Any experience with 270 sherman or o'connor

Looking at getting a 270, was wondering if anyone here had one of the wildcat 270s or an ai and what your experience has been? This would be standard 10tw running 130ttsx or 140 nab of they shoot.

why not a 270 wsm?
Incredible performance and the wsm cases are extremely accurate and easy to tune.
Plus you won't wave to screw around with fire forming, or expensive dies.
I've owned a Sherman mag and wasn't at all impressed with the minor velocity gain

I have a 300wsm, I like tinkering and reloading. I've never had a wildcat. What sherman cartridge did you have?

Taking a perfectly good 280ai and wildcatting it to shoot lesser bullets might not be that attractive to lots of folks.

Hey whats up with .277 fury? heard all this damn buzz around it and never saw a single reloader get their hands on it. I thought itd be cool necked up to .284 if they were getting remotely close to claimed velocity.

It has a steel case head and is not going to be reloadable

Why not? Just neck size or you could just bump the shoulder with a full-length die.

Hello I'm new to the site just joined today.. but deffinatly not new to the hunting seen... been archery hunting for 27 years...I have only owned one rifle and its been 270 Weatherby mag... in my opinion if u are wanting 270 caliber they don't make a better gun.. Weatherby mark 5 with a 3x9 leupold super flat shooting gun great deer and elk gun in my opinion...

Well it sounds like Sig is working on making loading components available in the future for the 277 fury, so it looks like you're right

I'm not planning on trying to turn this .277 barrel into a .284

Ya you're right, well I have it coming now lol. Traded off a right handed one for a left hand one in 270.

I just spun on a 1:8 twist barrel on a savage to try out the .270 sherman. I have thirty rounds ready for fire forming, just need to shoot them. I plan on using the 170 bergers for the higher bc but they required a faster twist rate. If you are going to be using the standard 1:10 twist barrel, I would stick with the original .270 chambering for ease of reloading. Unless you want to tinker.

How are you doing your fire forming? I've heard of guys jamming a bullet into the lands in a regular 270 case, or making a false shoulder in the neck. I'd like to hear your results.

I emailed Rich Sherman for his instructions. I take a standard .270 brass and using a .284 and .308 manderal I expand the neck. Then I resize the neck with the .270 sherman die, creating the false shoulder. He didn't recommend jamming the bullets to fireform. It's a new process for me but with the added expense of custom dies and fireforming I would stick with the .270 wcf if you don't plan to use a faster twist for the heavier bullets. I shoot the 150 lrab outa of a 24" proof at 3050 with rl26 in the standard .270 1-10 twist. But I like to tinder and I find the process interesting.

What has your experience with the 150gr ablr's been? Killed anything with them?

I haven't used the 150s on anything yet but I have used the 168s on two elk. They act like standard cup and core bullets at high velocity. They probably hold together better at longer distances, both of those elk were under 200 yards.
